Revell British Canberra Bomber Whip-Fly, 1/81, H157-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

$115

Rare hardbox kit from 1961 has fantastic artwork of an RAF Canberra flying over 'The Rock'. This example is in amazing investment-grade 'Near Mint' condition with factory new color and gloss, four solid and original corners, no repairs, no fading, creasing or tears, no price tags or tag marks and no tape or tape marks at all. The only flaws are very light wear as hown on the box top. Based on the 1950s B-57 "S" kit, the Whip-Fly Canberra comes with RAF decals, flight ballast, control handle, 12 feet of control line, control ring, colorful streamers for the jet engines and a underside pod which is a in-flight whistle! Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions included. Included in the famous 'Whip Fly' series are the H151 F9F-8 Cougar, H152 F-84F, H153 F-89D Scorpion, H154 F8U-1 Crusader, H155 F-39 Airacobra and H156 F-101A Voodoo. Although not listed yet, there was also a Whip-Fly Canberra, F-106 and Yak-25 Flashlight. The Whip-Fly series seemed like a good idea...at first. Revell quickly realized that spinning heavily-ballasted, sharp objects at dizzying speeds in or outside the home near groups of children was not the best idea. The series was quickly discontinued.

Very highly detailed 1/144 scale resin kit of this beautiful aircraft. The parts are still in the internally sealed bags. Includes decals and instructions. The Rainbow was not only beautiful but was very fast with a top speed of 460 MPH. Designed as a long range high speed reconnaissance aircraft for the Pacific theater, the design was brilliant and successful. However, the USAAF decided to use modified B-29s (RB-29) instead.

$44

1960s Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Features spoked wheels, detailed chassis with separately molded front and rear suspension, full interior and a separately molded tailgate. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including and instructions.

Includes the following aftermarket parts: Williams Brothers #131 3 3/4 Inch Wheel Set (hollow rubber tires and plastic solid wheels), Williams Brothers #161 2" Scale (1/6 scale) Lewis Machine Gun .30 Cal plastic kit (still factory sealed) and Profile Publications Number 1 The SE5A in very good condition. The actual kit is a very large full-scale model- even the rib spacing in the wings and tail is correct to the original, as is the stringer spacing of the fuselage. The only exception to scale is the modern airfoil cross section. Designed for R/C or control line with a .19 to .29 gas engine and measures 30.5 inches long with a 40 3/8 inch wingspan. Highly detailed. Features all die-cut sheet wood parts of very high quality balsa, numerous plastic details and metal radiator parts, wood and metal stock as needed, dowels, blocks and cut to shape wood, a great deal of hardware, three huge full color decal sheets and superb full size plans with instructions on them. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still in the factory sealed bags and the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I personally considered Sterlings to be 'deluxe' kits.

Frog Douglas Boston III - Havoc A-20 - Green Series, 1/72, 151P

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$34

Nicely molded. High quality Frog kit with unsightly rivets, just fine panel lines for a realistic model. Features basic cockpit and crew stations, crew figures, separately molded ailerons, elevators and rudder. This kit has never been started. It is inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Frog is considered the father of injection molded model kits. The Lines Brothers opened Frog in 1932, capitalizing on the fever caused by Lindberg's solo transatlantic flight. Almost overnight the western populations became 'Air-Minded', and anything aviation was in high demand. Frog created a quality line of stick and tissue rubber powered aircraft and gliders as well as innovative ready-to-fly rubber powered aircraft that required no assembly. The box even contained a built-in rubber motor winder and fuselage holder. Model airplane flight competitions were popular in Great Britain, and one category was 'Rise Off the Ground', or ROG. By changing this to 'Flies Right Off the Ground', the FROG name was born. In 1936 Frog created a line of injection molded plastic models, the first such kit line in the world (Hawk sold a line of injection molded aircraft models in 1934 but they were factory assembled and painted). Named 'Penguin' after the bird that does not fly, the kits were innovative beyond the means of production. At a time when models were simply built by wingspan, the Penguin line was a constant 1/72 scale. Furthermore, a large 1/72 Short S.30 Empire class flying boat contained a full interior and lights! A line of accessories such as AA guns, tractors, hanger, ambulance, sound locator, searchlights and lighting kits were quickly added to the line. WWII caused a pause in production. After the war the box color changed from silver to green, and Penguin kits were also marketed in the USA. Production ended in 1950. Frog quickly expanded and released the Red, Orange, Black, Green, Gold Token, Spin and Comet series as well as Trail Blazers and several others. It is noteworthy that while most manufacturers in the 1940s/50 were making toy-like models, Frog attempted to make very realistic models. For example, 'detailing' kits with excessively large rivets was once very popular. Frog ignored this trend and continued to mold aircraft with fine panel lines and no rivets. As a result, Frog kits can be built into very realistic replicas. Production ended in the late 1970s, but Frog molds are still in use around the world.

AMT 1965 Buick Riviera 3 in 1 Kit Movie 'Villa Riviera' George Barris, 1/25, 6555-200

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

$125

Early issue hardbox. Legendary AMT 3 in 1 kit can be built stock, custom or competition. George Barris served as the AMT consultant for the customized kits, and designed and built the 'Movie Car of the Year' for the movie Villa Riviera. This model will build the stock, Barris Custom or Barris' movie version. Model includes numerous optional parts for suspension, motor, exterior and interior as well as custom decals. Includes a special clear display stand also. Molded in white, clear and chrome with rubber tires and metal axles. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, vinyl material, decals and instructions. NOTE: box looks better than the 'fair' grade but it is graded that low because there is a large stain and box damage to the lower left long side and short left side of the box top. Additionally, there is identical damage to the tray (lower box) and I would grade it 'fair-.' NOTE: the instructions have only very minor bug damage but the decals have significant damage and are only 70% intact (about 30% destroyed).
