Rare kit from UPC with box artwork by Scott Eidson. The mold origins of this kit are not known. The kit is designed for motorized operation in water and includes a complete hardware set with can be motorized and includes battery contacts, metal shaft & propeller, switch and switch contacts, wire and drive U-joint. The plastic parts are molded in dark blue. Never started and the parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. Please note that like all motorized UPC kits, the motor is not included. There is a yellow note in the kit that says "...to obtain motor ask your dealer for UPC #PT-100 motor." Please also note that there is 2" clear packing tape on the box top - you can see it in the photo. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufacturers and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did UPC box art in the 1960s. All UPC production ended in the 1970s.

Rare early issue from Pyro, likely from the very late 1950s. The excellent box painting was by Howard E. Arnold. This is a very good model of the famous fishing schooner that was built by Louis G. Thebaud and christened by his wife Gertrude. After being initially defeated by the Bluenose, the Thebaud won the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy in 1930 in a hard-fought contest with her rival. The contest is still disputed to this day. Nicely detailed for that time and measures 20 inches long when built. Features 125 parts, full hull with display stand, deck fittings, rigging material and full rigging instructions. Molded in black and dark wood swirl plastics. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. NOTE: this is a tiny short shot on the port side of the forward bow. It is easily repairable and measures about 1/8 x 1/16 inches.

Before plastic kits were introduced, Strombecker was famous as the premier manufacture of very highly prefabricated hardwood models. All through the 1930s to the 1950s, Strombecker kits were flawlessly engineered but not inexpensive. This P-61 is one of their higher cost line and when assembled it makes an impressive desk top display model with an 11 inch wingspan. All wooden hardwood parts are completely precarved; usually only a quick sanding would finish them. The P-61 is one of the rarest of the WWII Strombeckers and features fuselage, wings, booms and tail feathers completely carved to the final shape, plastic propellers & detail parts, fully formed wire landing gear, nose weight, extensive color decals in amazing 'Excellent++' condition, glue and wood filler in the original sealed envelopes and sandpaper. Includes excellent large-format step-by-step instructions and numerous illustrations. Never started and complete. Even includes the mail order form for the official Strombecker badge.
