Aurora Martin B-26 Marauder, 1/46, 371-259

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$225

Very rare first issue from the early 1950s. When Aurora moved to the West Hempstead plant, they planned a series of very large scale bombers. All kits released up to this time had been small. Aurora's instincts were correct, and the B-26, B-25 and B-29 were a big sales success. This box art was done by Jim Cox and was only used for about one year, making it very rare. The kit has never been started and is inventoried 100% complete with the original tissue paper, all parts, large clear stand, instructions and decals.

Cleveland Nieuport 17 Scout Plane - Balsa Flying Model Airplane Kit, 1/16, M-12

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$75

Dated 1949. This is a Cleveland Master Scale Flying model in 1/16 museum scale. The box has foxing as shown but the insides are in excellent condition. All Cleveland kits were exceptionally complete and this one is no exception. Features very high quality balsa printwood and strip wood, wood stock as required, completely machine carved cowl/engine, fully formed and painted scale wooden wheels, fully formed thrust bearing and rubber motor retainer, metal stock, clear windshield celluloid, several sheets of color insignia including an instrument panel, rigging thread, two colors of covering material, highest quality plans and more. The model has not been started. The parts have been inventoried 100% complete with all paperwork included. Plans are in 'excellent' condition. The Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911) and Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called "The Aviation Craze" that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around this time. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - they were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream-to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest operating single-owner model airplane supply business- Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviation's Great Recruiter - Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.

Pyro 1936 Duesenberg SSJ LaGrande-Bodied Roadster, 1/32, C412-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$39

1966 Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of it's kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to, in this case Gary Cooper and Clark Gable's automobiles. This was the Duesenberg Company's last great automobile before going out of business in 1937. The Model J was a superb automobile and the fastest and finest car of it's day. Never to be outdone, the two brothers made two supercharged 'Super-Duesenbergs' from J models and are referred to by the public as SSJs. (The term SSJ was never used by the factory) The output was a whopping 400 bhp. The model includes rubber tires, chrome plated parts, colored injection molded parts and clear parts. Features detailed chassis with suspension, complete motor, removable hood, spoked wheels and a full interior. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.
