SNAP Combat Jeep And Trailer - With 3 GIs - (ex Revell), 1/40, 148-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$119

Rare model from the original 1950s Revell "S" Issue molds. Very well detailed featuring rotating wheels, radio, jerry cans, detailed chassis and suspension, tilting windshield, driver/soldier and general figure, detachable trailer with rotating wheels, generator, cable reel, packs, tool box and more. Molded in olive drab plastic. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. These molds must have had a very interesting history. The molds were cut in 1955 or 1956, either at Adams or by one of Revell's contractors. It appeared to be part of the Adams/Revell 1/40 line but Adams never issued the kit. The famous HO model train manufacturer Athearn purchased the Adams molds and ended up with the jeep. Ahtearn used the name SNAP for all plastic kit releases and slightly modified the molds by adding their name & logo to a part (or two) of each kit. Then UPC (Universal Power Master) either leased or purchased (probably the former) the Adams molds from SNAP in the 1960s. While most UPC kits say 'Made in Japan' the ex-Adams models do not and say 'Made in USA'. Things get even more interesting with the Life-Like issue. How Life-Like came across the molds is unfortunately unknown but it may have been in a bulk purchase of molds from Athearn since there were in the same general part of the country. This is simply conjecture, however.

AMCO Taylorcraft - 54 Inch Wingspan Flying Model - (Comet), 1/72, P10

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$85

1940 pre-war kit from AMCO, which was a division of Comet. This is a very large, stick-and-tissue scale flying model which features optional position or opening cabin doors, cockpit interior, movable controls, detachable wings, shock-proof landing gear, automatic wing jig, many sheets of high-quality printwood parts, factory cut stringers and spars, pre-drilled nose block, fully formed wheels and thrust button, wood and metal stock, clear windshield with frame & vent details printed on, cardstock sheet with instrument panel, 'leaf springs' for the tail skid and much more, a large gummed insignia sheet with N registration numbers and covering tissue. Almost all are cut outside the lines for safety; only a few are cut on the lines (none are cut inside the lines). Inventoried and NOTE: missing 4 ribs which are easily made since there are duplicates present with the kit. Missing (1) of (2) C1 rib, (1) of (2) C rib and (2) of (8) E ribs. Otherwise inventoried complete with all other parts and paperwork present.

O-Lin Republic Seabee Amphibian - (Lindberg), 1/48, 503

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$119

Very rare kit. The Seabee was produced as a high performance sport amphibian. This is a very hard-to-fine original O-lin kit in the small box and advertisement for O-lin cement on the top. Produced in 1949 or just before. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. O-Lin (correctly spelled with a hyphen) was founded by Paul Lindberg and a Mr. Olsen - hence the company name. Although a producer of flying models in the 1930s, O-lin produced some of the earliest American injection molded kits in the late 1940s. In 1950 the partnership may have ended, because all branding was changed to Lindberg and Paul Lindberg. I have not seen a catalog of O-lin, but from some instructions we know that the kit line sometime during the late 1940s was #100 C&NW Pioneer Locomotive and Tender, #500 F-80C Shooting Star, #501 Piper Cub Special, #502 Stinson, #503 Republic Seabee, #504 Beechcraft Bonanza, #505 F-86 Sabre Jet Fighter, #506 Ercoupe Club-Air and #507 Ryan Navion. More kits were issued as the 1940s came to a close and O-Lin ended all production. At some time in 1950 all kits were branded Lindberg only. It is common to see the earliest Lindberg kits with un-marked O-Lin instructions and "O-Lin Products Chicago 25, Ill." on the bottom of the teardrop stand. Paul Lindberg was careful to use up all the old materials on hand at O-lin.

Air Lines Percival Proctor IV Trainer, 1/72, 4905

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$24

1960s issue from quality Frog molds. Features separately molded ailerons, elevators and rudder. Finely molded in silver and clear plastic. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Box art is by the famous Jo Kotula who did 1930s covers for the magazine 'Model Airplane News' and later the Aurora box art of the late 1950s. Air Lines kits are all Frog molds that the Lines Brothers imported to the USA between 1964-1966. The kits, decals and instructions were made in England, then imported to the USA where Testors created the boxes with the colorful trading cards on the back. There are one or two trading cards on each box which show the boxart but not the advertising/logo. Some kits contain a Testors color painting guide also, but it is not specific to any model.
