UPC 105MM Howitzer And Emplacement, 1/40, 5152-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed VG

$39

Still factory sealed and rare. Judging only from the box art, I would guess that this is the from the Revell "S" 1950s molds. If so, here are the features: gun barrel swivels, elevates and has recoil action, wheels turn with flexible tires, trails fold inward for towing, 4 G.I. figures, shells, crates and detailed 'battle-ground' base. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufacturers and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did UPC box art in the 1960s. All UPC production ended in the 1970s.

Apogee Saturn 1B - Flying Model Rocket Or Static Display, 1/70

Multimedia Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$225

Retails for $271.00. Incredibly well detailed and scaled from actual plans. Can be built as a flying scale model rocket or a museum quality static model- and many are already displayed in museums. Features highly detailed injection-molded Apollo Capsule, injection-molded engine nozzles, cast-resin fins that are true-to-scale (other models of the Saturn 1B often use bulky oversize fins that are not authentic) to make the rocket stable when launched), urethane resin details for the booster interstage section, injection molded transition with fits perfectly over the cluster of fuel tank tubes, meticulously detailed vacuum form wraps for the booster thrust structure, Interstage, and 2nd stage, eye-poppingly detailed embossed wrap for the transition of the 2nd stage to the Service Module, special "raised ink" wrap for the Service Module portion to bring out the raised panel lines on the rocket, and to aid in masking off the different color patterns, injection molded Reaction Control System (RCS) nozzles on the Service Module, "Perfect Fit" body tubes, 29mm motor mount for E, F, and G rocket motors, five-color water-slide decals that include markings for all of the various Saturn 1B missions flown by NASA, four hours of video instruction that show not only where to place the parts, but how-to put them together correctly for high-quality fit and a lightweight rocket. There are 10 pages of superb painting instructions and drawings show the colors on the rocket, removable display nozzles (other models don't even include nozzles), vacuum form baseplate that shows the excellent surface detail on the bottom of the rocket, vacuum form antenna panels, precision cut cardboard centering rings for a strong and lightweight rocket that fits together perfectly, Kevlar shock cords, high strength rip-stop nylon parachutes (24-inch and 36-inch diameter chute, which brings your model down nice and slow after a rip-roaring launch), 1/4 inch launch lugs, RockSim design file so you can pick which motors you'd like to fly, and to determine how well the rocket will perform with those motors and CP location charts, to show you how to balance the rocket if you choose the "spinning" model launch system. Never started and all parts that were factory sealed are still in the factory sealed bags; the parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete with decals and CDs which include the extensive instructions.

Aurora The Barnstormers Customizing Kit DH-4 and JN-4 Jenny, 1/48, 200-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Very light wear and edge wear are the only significant flaws. Aurora really went out of the way to make this a special kit; however, it did not sell well and was retired after one year. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts present and includes decals and instructions. The instructions sheets are both in 'near mint' condition and the decal sheets are both completely flat with the typical age yellowing as the only significant flaw.

Hawk Curtiss Racer R3C-1 - One Piece Box Issue 1949 - (R3C1), 1/48, 600

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$125

For the advanced collector. This is a model kit with a fascinating history as it may be among the very first injection molded kits produced in the United States (please see the article about early USA kit production on this website). The Hawk model company was the most innovative in America and had been making constant 1/48 scale models in wood and metal since the late 1920s. During the re-run of the World's Fair in 1933, Hawk may have made the world's first injection molded airplanes models - but they were not kits. The models were completely finished and were on display for the princely sum of $25 each. The Mates brothers, who founded and ran Hawk, were quick to incorporate this new technology by adding injection molded details to the wooden kits in the late 1930s. During the war, Hawk put it's injection molding knowledge to work making ID models for the US Armed Forces. Originally there was a nation-wide program to have children and adults make these from wood, but consistency was an issue - injection molded solved this problem. Immediately after WWII in 1946, Hawk made the Curtiss Racer model injection molded in black tenite. The box was a simple one-color affair. This kit, like Varney's PT-17, met a very cool reception at hobby shops. Hawk quickly changed the box to two colors, added box artwork and molded the kit in bright yellow acetate. That was the second issue, still from 1946. By 1948/49 Hawk was using injection molded styrene plastic and still molding it in high-gloss yellow - that is this kit, the third issue. Other than the material, there are subtle changes to the box. It is still one piece but much larger, has much simpler (and larger) text on the end flaps and the box top says "All Plastic Airplane Assembly Kit" (instead of "...Construction Kit"). The box is in remarkable 'excellent++' condition with great colors, no creases, rips or tears, no splits and all 6 flaps present and 100% attached. The box has not been crushed or flattened, which is unusual as it was not very strong. Inside, the kit has never been started and has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The instructions are in excellent condition. Please note that Hawk did not issue decals with this issue of this kit.

Topping Grumman F9F-8T Cougar - Factory Desktop Model In The Original Topping Box, 9988T

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$289

Incredibly rare, 1950s NOS Topping F9F-8T Two-Seat Trainer model untouched in the original factory box. Inside, all of the factory cardboard and tissue are still intact. The stand and aircraft were never displayed or used. The gloss and shine on both are fantastic. There are no cracks, no breaks and no repairs. Decals and factory paint is are 'excellent++' to 'near mint.' While never used, please note that these models never left the factory in 'flawless' condition. There were always minor paint flaws and minor molding flaws as they were mass-produced. This example has a perfectly clear canopy with no yellowing and the decal yellowing is minimal; although there is a tiny bit of flaking on the black wing walks as shown. Because the original Topping box adds significantly to the value, it will be carefully packed into another box for shipping. Shipping insurance is required.

The Final Touch Saab J-21R A/B Or A-21R Conversion - Bagged, 1/72, FTC009

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$18

The Saab 21R was Sweden's first military jet aircraft. It was made by taking existing Saab 21 airframes and installing a de Havilland Goblin turbine engine. This proved to be more challenging than anticipated but the first flight was made on 10 March 1947. Two more years passed before all developmental problems were solved and the aircraft entered mass production and service with the Swedish Air Force. Aircraft either had the original de Havilland built Goblin 2 ("RA" variants) or the Swedish license built Goblin 3 ("RB" variants). Thirty of each were built, for a total of 60 aircraft. After a fairly short service life, all airframes were converted to A21R and A21RB ground attack aircraft, which carried five 180mm Bofors rocket projectiles or 10 80mm anti-tank rockets. This is a conversion kit consisting of high-definition cast resin parts as required to build the 21R. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes text and illustrated instructions. A base kit is required and the Heller 1/72 Saab 21 is recommended.
