This is the 1956 first release of this classic and highly detailed 'S' kit. It has the incredible box art that has made these early releases so famous and collectible. The model features full hull, complete paddle wheels, ship's boilers (deleted in the motorized version), super detailed deck moldings, ship's boat, boarding ramps, rigging instructions, display stand and more. Never started. Inventoried with all plastic parts, color flag sheet and instructions included. NOTE: missing the small decal sheet, which was just (2) ROBT E LEE for the paddle wheel covers. Fortunately, these letters are provided as raised moldings on the part so they are easy to paint if you are building the kit. The instructions are 100% complete but have several closed splits on and near the center fold. The box displays better than the 'very good++' grade but is rated as such because there is a tape tear (from the factory sealing tape) that is 1" x 1/2" on the upper long side.

Very rare kit from 1941 that measures 18 inches long when assembled and depicts the 'Showboat' in as-launched configuration. Includes completely pre-molded and shaped pressed-wood hull in solid, "near mint" condition, four sheets of cleanly done printwood, wood and bamboo stock in many shapes and sizes and a factory-sealed wax paper envelope of fittings. Includes excellent full size plans and instructions. The plans show numerous detail views of the ships details and superstructure. Never started. This model is exactly as it left the factory; all of the original factory tissue packing paper is intact and the plans have never even been opened. The fittings are still factory sealed; the rest of the kit has been inventoried complete.
