Life-Like Civil War Blockade Runner (Cutter 'Lavinia') - (Ex-Pyro), 1/124, 09362

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Good+

$75

Still factory sealed. Very early Life-Like issue after Pyro sold out all plastic model molds and remaining stock. Actually, this is a Pyro box with 'Life-Like' stickers neatly placed over the Pyro logo and part number on the top and all four sides. After the initial issue, Pyro re-marketed the Harriett Lane as the "Lavinia," which was what the Confederates renamed her when she was captured and made her a blockage runner. Very nicely molded full hull kit. Usually molded in white, black, light wood tan and green (hull) (cannot confirm, it is sealed). Includes full rigging diagrams. The Harriett Lane was built in 1858 and named for President Buchanan's niece. The cutter was 180 feet long with a 30 foot beam and displacement was 670 tons. Armament consisted of 3-9 inch Dahlgrens and 1-30 lb Parrot Rifle. She was built at a time when steam was not fool-proof, so she is rigged for full sails. Harriett Lane served as the Presidential Yacht, the fired the first shot of the Civil War. She chased down blockade runners until January 1, 1863 when she was attacked by five Confederate Gun Boats and boarded. She was captured and renamed the Lavinia and was used as a blockade runner. Near the end of the war she caught fire at sea, and put into Havana Harbor. Federal forces took her again and rebuilt her in 1869 as the bark 'Elliot Ritchie'. She was abandoned at sea in 1884.

Sterling Stearman PT-17 Kaydet Dusts Crops in Flight - 22 Inch Wingspan for R/C / Control Line / Free Flight, A2

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

$55

Very nicely produced stick-and-tissue model that actually releases 'crop dust' in flight. Can be flown with rubber, electric or gas control line or converted to RC with modern lightweight systems. Features high quality die-cut balsa sheet parts, stripwood and spars, fully formed wire landing gear struts, finished wheels, other wood and metal stock as required, light plastic engine, exhaust and pilot bust, clear dual die-cut windscreens, rubber motor, plastic prop, a big set of decals, covering tissue and excellent full size plans with detailed instructions. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Please NOTE there is some bug damage to the backing paper only on the decals. The actual transfers are free of damage. The box is only 'fair' and not collectible; the kit inside is fine and an ideal builder. Sterling was a famous manufacturer dating back to the 1930/40s flying model craze. Although they continued to produce kits for decades after the flying model slump following World War II, they eventually fell victim to the general lack of interest in modeling that occurred in the early 1980s. I always considered Sterling kits to be deluxe kits as they had the action features and included everything needed to complete the model.

Comet Sparky - 32 Inch Wingspan Wakefield-Style Flying Aircraft, 3408-150

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

$38

Late 1960s reissue of the original 1950s release. Features high quality print and strip balsa wood, a beautiful, large carved balsa prop that needs final sanding to shape, fully formed wheels, thrust button, metal and wood stock as required, tissue and excellent full size plans with instructions. There is no assembly and all parts are uncut. Inventoried complete with all parts and plans present. Please NOTE the box is only fair and not collectible; ideal builder kit. These aircraft were common in the 1930s when the sport of free-flight model airplanes reached it's zenith. It was not uncommon for these models to fly for 45 minutes or more on rubber power alone - many flew out of site, and it became common practice to write your name, address and phone number on the covering tissue. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Lindberg Concord Stagecoach (Wells Fargo Overland ) - with Figures and Horses, 1/16, 70351

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

$89

Still factory sealed. Out of production. Very large (1/16 scale)classic kit measures 2.5 feet long when assembled. Very highly detailed model can build to a wonderful mantle piece. Includes 0ver 250 parts - coach with full interior, full suspension, luggage rack, horses, harnesses, whip, metal chain, luggage trunks and 6 figures. The figures are beautifully molded and detailed. NOTE: Lindberg packed this in a huge box - much larger than needed, so shipping can be expensive depending on your location. If you want the parts removed from this box and repacked, it would cost much less to ship. For overseas orders this is absolutely necessary. For USA customers the same is true and also the USPS shipping calculator has proven to be unreliable with big box sizes (near balloon rate) so please ask and as always- we will be happy to double check.

Monogram RB-66A Destroyer Blue Box Issue, 1/83, PA204-130

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc++

$45

Still factory sealed. This is the original 1967 issue, not the 1990s reissue. Nicely molded and from the original 'Four Star' molds. Features rear gun turret, cockpit with three crew, opening bomb bay and bomb. Molded in silver and clear. When the Air Force phased out the B-66, they converted many into ECM aircraft, hence the RB-66A. Monogram seized this opportunity as a new lease on life for the B-66 molds and the result was this issue as RB-66 aircraft were being used in Vietnam in the late 1960s.
