Entex 1901 De Dion Bouton type G- The World's First Compact Car, 1/16, 8466

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

In 1901, Count Albert de Dion and M. George Bouton produced a remarkable engine that produced 3/4 horsepower at 1800 rpm. This was double the speed of the then famous Daimler 'High Speed' engine. Upon hearing of the engine, Daimler's engine engineer said that the motor would not last but 1/2 the time of a 500 HP engine. However, many of the de Dions are still running today. At first, de Dion Bouton used the engine for tricycles (which were popular at the time) and sold the engine to other manufacturers. The company then decided to make the first "people's car" that was affordable and easy to drive - the Type G was the result. It was powered by a water cooled engine of 4.5 HP and used a constant mesh gear system and famous 'de Dion axle', which was still used by sports cars into the 1970s. The car had a top speed of 26 MPH. This is a large 1/16 scale model with excellent detail. It is molded in black, brass plate, nickel plate, tan and red. It features steerable front wheels, full suspension, detailed undercarriage and full interior. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

Ab Jenkins set a record with a stock issue 851 at Bonneville Salt Flats in July of 1935, and became the first one to pilot a stock car for over 12 hours at an average of over 100 mph. Molded in white with real rubber tires. Features detailed engine, hinging/opening hood and good interior detail. Never started. Missing one part: driver's rear view mirror (easily made). Dyna-Products Vought F4U Corsair - Wood and Metal Solid Aircraft Model, 1/48

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

In the 1930s and 1940s, most modelers built the flying stick and tissue type kits with rubber, co2 or gas power. But there were a small but measurable percent that built solid aircraft display models of great detail. This required great skill worthy of the shipbuilders of old, especially considering the limited offerings. Many manufacturers issued blocks of wood and a plan - the famous (or infamous) 'Make Wood Look Like Plane' kits. A few manufacturers, like Dyna-Model Products Company, attempted to provide true-scale static models with a high level of detail. Today Dyna-Models are legendary and sought after collectibles. When you first open the kit, you see a black and white cardboard display with all the needed jigs and templates for assembly. Underneath, the fuselage is 3-D carved (not just profile cut) and all other parts are rough cut or die cut. Includes a vacuform canopy, color decals, full size and well-detailed plans and the crowning jewel, a box of 15 finished metal castings for super detailing your aircraft. The model has not been started. The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
