1966 first issue hardbox. Very nicely molded and detailed for that time, as this kit was part of Aurora's new line designed to compete with Monogram and Revell for quality. Features full cockpit and interior, positionable pilot and copilot figures, two other positionable crew members, optional position crew doors, detailed rotor head, small or large rocket loadout, machine guns and more. Aurora Convair 880 SuperJet TWA, 1/103, 384-250

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

$225

Still factory sealed. Dated 1961. The Convair 880 and it's near sister 990 were very high performance airliners. Unfortunately they did not find favor with commercial operators. Only 65 880s were produced from 1959 to 1962. The aircraft was designed to be smaller and faster than the DC-8 and 707 - this market did not develop, however, and if it did it could have been served with less expensive designs. The 990 was a larger and faster (mach .91) airliner, but it failed to meet it's range criteria for east to west crossings of the USA. As a result, only 37 were made. Interestingly enough, several 990s continued to be operated by private owners and NASA operated two 990s for decades after the last 990 was phased out of commercial service.

Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufacturers and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did UPC box art in the 1960s. All UPC production ended in the 1970s.

Marlin Chemical and Ladder American Firefighters, 1/48, 101 FC

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$125

Very rare. In 1952 Marlin Toy Company of New York City, New York entered the plastic model business. The Revell 'Highway Pioneers' were making a huge impact on the hobby industry and the timing seemed perfect. Marlin first cut the molds in 1952 and issued the six original American Firefighters -Chemical and Ladder, Steamer, Hook and Ladder, Water Tower, Aerial Ladder and Hose Reel. The boxes were identical as a cost saving measure - similar to the Revell Highway Pioneers. Revell signed a marketing agreement with Marlin in 1953. Five of the kit were released with the Revell name and marketing name 'Collectors Kits, Closter N.J.' Revell added the horse parts as they were not originally part of the Marlin issues. The kits made excellent display pieces, but they never caught the imagination of young men like jet aircraft did. The five molds were shipped to Brazil. After a run for Kikoler (Revell Brazil's Distributor), they were shipped back to the USA but the molds were lost at sea. This is an original Marlin kit and contains the Chemical and Ladder. Molded in dark red and yellow. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora Convair 990 Jet Mainliner United Air Lines, 1/107, 397-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$1299

Very rare kit from 1962. First and only issue. This is the largest injection molded kit ever made of the very fast Convair 990 airliner. The box has as-new color and sheen with four solid corners and no repairs. There are no price tags, tape or price tag/tape marks. The only flaw is light edge wear. The model is molded in the correct white and clear plastic, with the large clear triangle display stand and full color United decals. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried 100% complete including all parts, decals and instructions. Decals and instructions are both flat with slight yellowing being the only flaw. NOTE: shipping insurance is required with this kit. The Convair 990 and its near sister 880 were very high performance airliners. Unfortunately they did not find favor with commercial operators. The commercial failure of the 990 caused Aurora to pull these molds from production shortly after the introduction of the kit. The 990 was a larger and faster (Mach .91) airliner than the 880, but it failed to meet it's range criteria for east to west crossings of the USA. As a result, only 37 were made. Interestingly enough, several 990s continued to be operated by private owners and NASA operated two for decades after the last one was phased out of commercial service. Only 65 880s were produced from 1959 to 1962. The aircraft was designed to be smaller and faster than the DC-8 and 707 - this market did not develop, however, and if it did it could have been served with less expensive designs.

The only tape is the factory sealing tape on the long sides and bottom. Light general wear (more pronounced on the edges) and a tiny (5mm x 2mm) tear on the left short side constitute the flaws. The kit features optional position folded wings, pilot, rotating wheels and two piece canopy. Molded in the correct light gloss gray and clear with the famous 'Swivel Base Display Stand.' The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes excellent decals and instructions.
