This is a model of the AMA A-1 towline glider record holder and winner of the 1959 and 1960s Nationals. The kit is from the early 1960s and was designed by Warrne Kurth. This model came from the estate of a very active and particular early aircraft kit collector. It is like factory-new inside and has not been started. 'Big A' logo issue dated 1972. In the late 1960s/early 1970s, Aurora realized that it needed to produce new and better kits if they were to stay in business. Several helicopters, aircraft and ships were released with markedly improved mold quality from the older kits. The HH-3 is one of those kits. The result is a very nice scale kit with well molded detail. Features full cockpit, pilot and co-pilot figures, stub wing fuel tanks, detailed rescue winch, inflight refueling probe, retractable landing gear and rotating main and tail rotors. This is one of a very popular series of World War II aircraft that Monogram originally released in the 1960s. This is likely the first issue of this UPC kit as it has a rather graphic error - it pictures F-86 Sabrejets on the box - NOT the F-86D 'Dog version. The enclosed kit is the "D" variant from Marusan molds. The Marusan F-86D model is known for it's action features and accessories, and the UPC reissue includes them all. Kit has removable radome to display the radar, opening canopy, removable tail section with dolly and detailed jet engine with engine stand, operating leading edge slats, operating wing flaps, moving control surfaces, retracting landing gear, retracting/extending missile tray, boarding ladder, and extra missiles with missile cart.
