Hawk Lockheed F-90 - One Piece Flip Top Box 1st issue, 1/48, 500

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$185

Very rare and early Hawk kit in the first issue, one-piece flip top box. It is widely accepted that the Hawk version is superior in scale fidelity to the Aurora release. Includes a clear display stand with "Lockheed F-90" on the base. The kit has never been started. The clear parts are still factory sealed. The gloss silver parts are inventoried 100% complete. Includes decals in "excellent++" condition and instructions that are "excellent." The box is in very good condition as shown. Aurora, in an attempt to enter the plastic kit market as quickly as possible, bought the Hawk F-90 and quickly copied it to create their own model. This caused more than one tense moment at the big Toy and Hobby Shows when both companies were present.

Hawk Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighter, 1/48, 560-130

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$28

Softbox issue dated 1967. This very cleanly molded 'A' variant of the famous F-5 Tiger features over 60 pieces, 'good' cockpit, hinged canopy, pilot figure, two AIM-9 Sidewinders, (2) 750 lb bombs, two Bullpup Missiles and more. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Also includes what appears to be a very nice F-5 cockpit tub and instrument panel from the same-scale Monogram kit (perhaps - just a guess). NOTE: two bomb fins and 1 wing pylon are a different color plastic; they are from another issue of this same kit.

ITC Tri-Motor Stinson - Model T Eastern Air Service, 1/61, 3722

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$169

Rare. This famous early 1930s transport was the primary competition of the Ford Tri-Motor and saw widespread use. It was the idea of E.L. Cord, the money behind the aircraft and the owner of the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg automobile company. Cord also owned Lycoming, the engines that ended up on the final product. Another of Cord's companies was Century Airlines, which naturally used the aircraft. Century later became part of American Airlines. The Model T was used by many other airlines including Eastern, Delta, Braniff, TWA, United and American when they rolled up Century. The Tri-Motor carried 10 passengers, baggage and of course the mail, which was critical to early airline revenue. The aircraft proved successful and economical to operate. Includes clear windows, interior with passengers and pilots, Eastern Air Service decals and clear blue-tinted display stand. Never started. The clear blue parts are still in the factory sealed bag; all other parts have been inventoried complete and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora Albatross D-3 Red Dot Issue - (Albatros D.III / DIII), 1/48, 104-69

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$48

Rare very early issue from 1956 with Northern Lights logo and the 69 cent price circle on the right of the box top. What is most unusual is that the price is within a red-filled circle; this is the second instance of this that I have seen in more than 26 years. Just when you think you have Aurora's kit history figured out, they throw you another curve ball! Molded in the correct glossy dark green and black. Decals and instructions are correct for the first issue as well. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Even includes the original factory tissue packing material.

Aurora Boeing P-26A Peashooter, 1/43, 115-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$44

Very rare 1957 issue with the original artwork and the then-new Sunburst Oval logo with 'Famous Fighters' in the border. This was a one-year only issue because in 1958 the new Jo Kotula artwork was introduced. The P-26A was originally issued shortly after Aurora moved to the West Hempstead facility on Long Island, NY. Molded in the correct glossy light blue and clear with the early style Aurora rectangular stand, correct Tatem Company decals and the correct instructions. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. The box has wear as shown and is only 'good.' Aurora was the only early US model company known for consistently turning a profit. They never wasted anything and that included instructions, stands and decals. If any were left, they were used (in the new style box, like in this case) until they were used up.

Aurora TWO Sopwith Camel, 1/48, 102-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$42

SALE! This box includes two 1/48 scale Sopwith Camel kits. The first one is the Aurora issue; the second one is the greatly improved Monogram reissue of the Aurora kit. Both are never started and inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The Aurora version naturally includes the 'chock' ground base, pilot and mechanic figure. This is part of the famous Aurora WWI series of 1/48 scale aircraft. The series began in 1956 and Aurora added new kits into the early 1960s. The line proved incredibly popular, so these kits were included in the 'mold upgrade' in the 1970s before Aurora went out of business and sold the molds to Monogram. Monogram only reissued the best Aurora kits; the Sopwith Camel met that criteria after some mold improvements were made.

This model was reviewed highly when released in magazines and features 'good' cockpit and engine detail, wing mounted bombs, clear windscreen, pilot figure, 'ground base' with chocks, mechanic figure and more. Aurora P-38 Lightning - Famous Fighters of All Nations, 1/48, 99-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$159

Rare. This is the third issue from about 1954 with the rectangular 'Aurora Line' logo and Famous Fighters of All Nations slogan. Molded in correct gloss medium blue and clear plastic, full rivet detail, complete landing gear, correct rectangle-based clear stand and Tatem Company decals. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions prseent. The decals are almost flat and in 'excellent++' condition with sligh yellowing as the only notable flaw; the instructions are in amazing 'near mint+' condition. Even the original factory tissue packing paper is present. The Aurora issues of the 1/48 scale P-38 are interesting to say the least. The first issue is the Brooklyn kit with the P-38/B-24 box artwork. Inside, the plastic is light blue with minimal surface detail and a clear canopy and rectangular stand that says 'Aurora Plastic Corp. Brooklyn, 4, N.Y.'. There are no landing gear, gear doors or mass balances. The second issue has identical box art, plastic color, decals and rectangular stand, but the box and instructions says 'West Hempstead' instead of Brooklyn. The clear stand mold has had 'Brooklyn' milled out, and there is no location on the stand. The third issue has the all-new artwork shown in this photo and the full color 'Aurora Line' logo is used - but the big changes were on the inside. Aurora modified the molds, adding a pitot tube, elevator mass balances and landing gear struts, wheels and doors. The decals and stand remain the same, but the new instructions reflect the changes to the molds. This time the kit is molded in an attractive metallic blue. For the fourth issue, the plastic still metallic light blue and the decals and stand remain unchanged. The new details were retained. The fifth issue was 1959. The oval 'Famous Fighters' logo was used with Jo Kotula artwork of two P-38s. The detail level of the kit remained the same, but it was molded in olive drab and clear. The newer 'Triangle' base was added at this time. Further issues kept this box artwork, but the oval logo changed as well as the price extensions.
