Berkeley Aeronca C-3 King Size - RC Flying Model Airplane Kit, 1/8, 3-5

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

The parts are either in factory sealed bag(s) or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Berkeley is a very famous manufacturer of flying model kits from the Golden Age of flying aviation, about 1932-1954. Founded in 1933 by William Effinger, the company was quite progressive in producing quality kits - it was likely the Berkeley 'Buccaneer' was the first gas powered model in kit form. In the later 1930s, Effinger acquired the services of a very talented Henry Struck. Struck went on to design numerous award-winning kits under the Berkeley name. Berkeley weathered the post WWII recession and emerged as a major kit producer in the late 1940 and 1950s. These were great years for Berkeley and they produced some incredible and large kits. The company went bankrupt in about 1960 however. Fox engines (Duke Fox) bought the company and released the kits alongside his own FOX models and engines. This arrangement did not last, and in the early 1960s the Berkeley name disappeared from hobby shop shelves.

Revell American Firefighters Chemical and Ladder, 1/48, F201-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+++

Sold

Dated 1953 with a wonderful hardbox illustration. Kit also includes horses, dog and fireman and real chain. The kit has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. Marlin first cut the molds in 1952 and issued the six original American Firefighters (Chemical and Ladder, Steamer, Hook and Ladder, Water Tower, Aerial Ladder and Hose Reel) in 1952. Revell signed a marketing agreement with Marlin in 1953. Five of the kit were released with the Revell name and marketing name 'Collectors Kits, Closter N.J.' Revell added the horse parts as they were not originally part of the Marlin issues. The kits made excellent display pieces, but they never caught the imagination of young men like jet aircraft did. The five molds were shipped to Brazil. After run for Kikoler (Revell Brazil's Distributor), they were shipped back to the USA but the molds were lost at sea. This issue is from when Revell still had the marketing agreement, as it says 'Trade Mark Copyright 1953 Marlin Toy Co. Inc' on the box top and 'Collector's Kits, Inc, Closter, N.J.' on the side.

Huma Model Messerschmitt Me-209 V5, 1/72, 3505

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Designed as an enhanced version of the Bf-109, the 209 witnessed many incarnations. Originally designed to use 109 components, this quickly fell by the wayside, and when the final variant (V5) flew in 1944, it was more than 30 mph slower than the current FW designs. The project was cancelled and ended Messerschmitt's final bid to build a high performance piston interceptor. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Athearn 40' Steel Box Car - Seaboard Railroad 'The Route of Courteous Service' - HO Craftsman Kit with Trucks, 1/87

Wood and Metal Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

Very high quality wood and metal kit from the Golden Age of HO Craftsman kit. Builds a very accurate and highly detailed prototype. Of the early metal box car kits, these are my favorites, with their popularity witnessed by the various reissues through the years. Almost all the parts that are metal on the actual box car are metal on the model. This and the factory paint, lettering and decoration makes these kits difficult to beat for scale appearance. Features stamped steel body, car ends and roof that are that are factory painted, lettered and decorated, steel ladders, doors, door guides and brake platform, cast metal running boards, bolsters, coupler pockets and three piece brake detail, stamped metal undercarriage beam with fine cross bearers, corner steps, grab irons and more. Includes trucks. The factory paint is mint, and the factory protective plastic is still in place on the body, roof and car ends. Due to the high degree of factory finishing, the only painting required for this kit is the interior floor and underside. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including instructions. NOTE: this kit is in a period Athearn box, but the box originally contained a different kit. Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

1968 'Blue Box' issue of the 1950s Four Star kit. This is the second or third issue of this kit. I say this because there are two PA177-100 box variants, and I am not sure which one came first. Lindberg British Battleship Hood - Motorized, 1/400, 763M-500

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

Sold

Rare motorized 1st issue. Could easily be made RC with today's small FM components. Excellent condition box with wonderful gloss and color and four solid corners. This is a large and wonderful motorized kit that sails well. One electric motor drives the ship on a course that you pre-set - figure 8, straight or circle. While sailing at a good rate of speed, the four main turrets slowly swing from port to starboard together and the guns elevate. I remember sailing mine for years before the batteries died in the middle of the lake. Never started. Inside, the kit is as new. The parts are still factory wrapped, complete and in mint condition. Includes flag sheet, electric motor, running hardware and instructions.
