Aoshima Aircraft Carrier Unyo - Originally Yawata Maru Ocean Liner, 1/700, WLA203

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$30

1/700 scale waterline model that is highly detailed and finely molded. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. She was launched on October 31, 1939 from her builder, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. at Nagasaki. She did see peacetime service as an ocean liner for a short period on the Pacific route to America. After war was declared, Yawata Maru was rebuilt at Kure Naval Yard as the Taiyo-class escort carrier Unyo. She had a very active war career but was sunk by two torpedoes from the submarine USS Barb on September 17, 1944.

Aoshima Yawatamaru Pacific Ocean Liner, 1/700, WLEO97

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$29

1/700 scale waterline kit that is very highly detailed and finely molded. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Yawata Maru was one of the three Nitta Maru class NYK Line passenger ships commissioned in the late 1930s. All three were converted to aircraft carriers. Yawata Maru was launched on October 31, 1939 from her builder, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. at Nagasaki. She did see peacetime service as an ocean liner for a short period on the Pacific route to America. After war was declared, Yawata Maru was rebuilt at Kure Naval Yard as the Taiyo-class escort carrier Unyo. She had a very active war career but was sunk by two torpedoes from USS Barb on September 17, 1944.

Aoshima Kasuga Maru - NYK Pacific Ocean Liner - (Converted to Aircraft Carrier Taiyo), 1/700, WLE098

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$32

1/700 scale waterline model that is highly detailed and finely molded. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Kasuga Maru was one of a class of three Japanese ocean liners that were built for the Nippon Yusen K line. She was launched in September 1940 and saw very little or no service (accounts vary) as a transport before her conversion to the escort carrier Taiyo. Given the size and machinery of this class of liner, the IJN subsidized their construction and knew they would make fine escort carriers. The Taiyo went on to have a very active career. She was attacked many times and damaged several times. Taiyo was eventually sunk in a submarine attack in August 1944 with a heavy loss of life by the USS Rasher.

Aoshima Nitta Maru - NYK Pacific Ocean Liner - Converted to Aircraft Carrier Chuyo, 1/700, WLE096

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$34

1/700 scale waterline model that is highly detailed and finely molded. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Nitta Maru was the lead ship of a class of three Japanese ocean liners that were built for the Nippon Yusen K line. The Japanese government subsidized the class as they were designed to be converted into small aircraft carriers in the event of war. She was launched in May of 1938. Originally she was to upgrade the NYK line service to Europe, but with the advent of war there and tensions in the Pacific, she was restricted to Pacific Ocean service. After conversion she saw extensive service ferrying aircraft, etc. She was sunk later in the war after two attacks by the submarine USS Sailfish. After the second attack, Chuyo sank quickly with a large loss of life.

Very rare, early 1960s issue in big 1/550 scale from Fujimi Mokei Company Limited. Features very collectible glossy box artwork in a large box. This model represents Hiei in all 'all big gun' configuration before she was converted to a hybrid aircraft carrier. This kit is designed to be a scale model for water operation. It features an RE-26 electric motor, steel, brass & nylon gearbox that drives two propellers, battery contacts, universal joints, switch, wiring, metal propeller shafts, propeller stuffing boxes, on/off function by turning one of the main turrets, lower hull correctly molded in 'IJN Hull Red', detailed superstructure, separately molded secondary casemate guns and turrets, rangefinders, fire control, spotlights, catapult and aircraft and more. The parts above the waterline are molded in gray and black plastic. Never started. All parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags; the electric motor and running hardware bags have the Fujimi Mokei paper headers while the others never had them. Includes large, fold-out instructions. The box would grade slightly higher than 'excellent' but is rated as such because there is some clear tape on the sides and a small tape tear (1.5" x 3/8") on the left short side.

Heller Admiral Sheer German Heavy Cruiser / Pocket Battleship, 1/400, 800

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$34

1970s 'Yellow' box issue and a very nicely detailed, full-hull kit of this famous sister to the Graf Spee. These kits are still in demand for their detail and accuracy, since Heller did their research in identifying the differences between Scheer, Spee and Lutzow. These are integrated into these kits down to the porthole differences. A very nicely detailed, full-hull kit of this famous sister to the Graf Spee. She saw heavy action and was Germany's most successful capital ship surface raider of WWII. She was also a fairly luck ship and survived to very near the end of the war. While in port, most of her crew was ashore and an RAF bombing raid capsized the ship. She was scrapped after the war but part of the hull was used for fill for a quay. This model is very well detailed with 200 pieces. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals, metal chain and instructions.

Renwal The Visible V8 - Transparent Motorized Operating Auto Engine - (Visible V-8), 1/4, 802-1095

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Poor++

$325

The early issue from the late 1950s or early 1960s. Classic motorized kit with over 100 moving parts. All internal cardboard and cello display packing is present. When built, all major internal parts move via electric motor and spark plugs (red lights) flash in time. This kit has never been started. The small metal parts and hardware are still factory sealed. I did a complete inventory on all clear, red, black and metallic colored parts and they are complete. Does include the very rare Renwal plastic cement. Please NOTE that the box only grades as 'Poor++.' The very top of the box (shown) is intact, but the rest of the box was in about 8 pieces and is neatly taped together with clear tape. Three sides panels are complete, but the right short one is missing (2) 2" long sections on the far left and far right; they have been replaced with white cardboard. The box bottom is complete but also taped together. Summary: the actual kit is excellent but the box is not in collectible condition.
