Still factory sealed and from the late 1970s/early 1980s. It is perhaps the best injection-molded Ark Royal kit. Full hull model is very nicely detailed and includes aircraft. This aircraft carrier was the third vessel of the Royal Navy to be named Ark Royal - the first ship took part in the defeat of the Spanish Armada, and the second was being constructed as a tanker when the Royal Navy took it over and converted it to become the first seaplane carrier. The Ark Royal III was launched in April 13, 1937 and was very active during WWII. She was reported sunk several times by German sources. She took part in the defense of Norway. In October of that year, she and Renown went to the South Atlantic to hunt for the Graf Spee. Later her Skuas took part in a gallant but failed attack the Scharnhorst. She then moved to Gibraltar with Force H. In May of 1941, she took part in the search for the Bismarck. Her Swordfish torpedo aircraft scored two hits, one of which jammed the rudders of the German Battleship while she was in a tight turn. This hit sealed the fate of Bismarck, and she was sunk. If this hit would not have occurred, she would have made safe haven at Brest. In November of 1941, the Ark Royal was working the dangerous escort of Malta convoys when she was struck by a torpedo from U-81. Despite all attempts to save her, she went down. Only one sailor lost his life.

The purpose was to create the first true vertical take-off airliner that could operate from an area no larger than two tennis courts with a full load. The Rotodyne flew at up to 191 MPH with a range of 450 miles and a payload of 48 passengers or 5 tons of freight. Despite the excellent performance and a larger design in the works, the RAF never placed an order and BEA never placed a firm order. The project was discontinued in 1962.

The I-19 is famous for firing history's most successful torpedo spread. On September 14, 1942 off Guadalcanal, the I-19 was patrolling of the Solomons when she fired a 6 torpedo spread. Three hit and sank the US Carrier CV-7 WASP, and the remaining three exploded against the BB North Carolina and the destroyer O'Brien. The destroyer sank & the North Carolina had to be repaired at Pearl and did not enter service again until November 16, 1942. The I-19's Glen seaplane also flew night reconnaissance on February 23, 1942 over Pearl Harbor for the planned second attack by Emily flying boats on that base. This kit is the 1969 issue in the 'Big A' logo hardbox. This large scale kit is almost 16 inches long when assembled and is an excellent model from Aurora's best efforts of the late 1960s/early 1970s. Aurora knew that most of their kits were outclassed, so in the mid and late 1960s they cut a new molds with much better detail - the I-19 was one of those. Includes display stand, a large wood-grained display base, decals, periscope and cranes, detailed Glen Seaplane, conning tower, deck guns and more. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Rare first issue from the early 1950s with the 'Famous Fighters of All Nations' box . Aurora's first logo is on the side with the West Hempstead address and also please note the 79 cent price extension on the part number. Inside it is 100% correct with first logo instructions, early Tatem decals and the parts molded in gloss silver & green-tinted clear. Never started and inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The decals are in remarkable 'excellent+ condition and the instructions are 'excellent++.' Even the original factory packing tissue is present. The canopy is 100% intact with no cracks but NOTE: it has a haze to it. I used some Novus plastic polish and it did go away (became clear) but there was significant effort involved.

Features detailed deck and superstructure, rotating main 8" turrets, six dual AA gun mounts, three rangefinders, cranes, gun directors, searchlights, AR-196 floatplane and more. The Blucher had the dubious distinction of being the only capital ship sunk in WWII by coastal torpedo batteries. She was also the only German capital ship to be sunk during the Norway invasion of April 1940, repeating the history of the previous Armored Cruiser Blucher which was the only capital ship lost at the Battle of Dogger Bank in WWI. The WWII Blucher was surprised by Norwegian coastal torpedo batteries and guns from the fortress of Oscarsborg while sailing up the fjord towards Oslo.

Very rare first issue. Of Aurora's 'Original Brooklyn 8,' this is usually considered the hardest one to find. Inside, the kit is 100% correct with no/minimal rivet detail, no bombs and no landing gear. The color is the unique first run non-metallic 'medium red' with clear canopy and stand. The stand is the correct square one marked 'Brooklyn.' The instructions are correct Brooklyn also, and the decals are the proper early 'Tatem Company' issue with the swastika. It even includes the original factory packing tissue. This kit has never been started. It has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts in perfect condition, amazing 'excellent but rolled' decals and 'excellent++' instructions with a tiny pinhole as the only real flaw. The box is the low end of the 'good' range as shown. There is a litho tear from the factory tape on the upper long side and it measures 1/5" long by 1/2" wide (average). This kit must be shipped double boxed and insured.

Very Rare. Nichimo was founded in 1951 and was a very famous Japanese kit manufacturer both at home and around the world. This model dates from the late 1950s or very early 1960s and is part of an extensive and sought-after 1/500 scale IJN Warship Series with expensive glossy box art from the 'Golden Age' of Japanese model kit illustrations. The model can built for motorized operation in water or static with waterline or full hull display. Well detailed and molded for that time, it features all hardware for motorizing, a steel and brass gear box for dual-propeller drive, switch, wire, universal joints, brass batter contacts, metal shafts, an original Mabuchi FA13 still in the original colorful box, one piece lower hull (molded in a realistic IJN 'Hull Red'), one piece upper hull (molded in gray), detailed deck and superstructure, rotating main turrets and separately molded secondary battery and AA guns, catapults, floatplanes and more. Never started. The plastic parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags; the hardware bag is open and inventoried complete. Includes instructions, silver and gold foil-covered cardboard name plate and internal packing display 'band.' Please note that Nichimo did not supply decals with this issue. Please note that the box would display slightly better than the 'good+' rating, but is graded as such because there is a closed tear at the center of the right short side. It has been very neatly and correct repaired from the inside with light weight cardstock and book binding glue.
