Miniature Aircraft Lockheed P-23 Army Pursuit Aircraft - Floats or Wheels - 32 inch Wingspan Balsa Wood Aircraft Kit, 1/16

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair+

Sold

Very rare. True 1/16 scale flying model kit from the 1930s or very early 1940. Miniature Aircraft was well known for turning out some of the most detailed and best scale models during this time - as their catalog says, 'The Worlds Finest Model Aircraft.' The kit cost $3.75 when it was new, so it was very expensive. The limited production and sales have made all Miniature Aircraft kits rare and valuable today. This model came from the estate of a very active and particular early aircraft kit collector. The model has not been started. Includes all seven printed balsa sheets in excellent condition with optional parts for land or twin float variants, stock sheet wood, stock strip wood and larger strips for main spars, leading and trailing edges and more, balloon celluloid main wheels, turned tail wheel, stock wire, colored vertical fin flash, fuselage and wing insignia printed on the plans (black and white), semi-scale fibre propeller, clear celluloid for windshields (brittle and cracking), turned wood thrust bearing, turned balsa front cowl, shaped wire rubber band/prop shaft, card stock, tissue and excellent, large 33" x 44" full size scale plans. Only the rubber band is missing - it had disintegrated into hundreds of parts. The plans are 'very good' with typical yellowing and a few small tears but nothing major. The box is present but tattered as shown and it has neatly done internal repairs to side and corner splits.

Sold

Very highly detailed upgrade kit with extensive interior details for the exclellent Academy B-17F. Never used. Pyro USS Washington Battleship - Table Top Navy, 1/1200, C389-60

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Small scale ship kit from the Table Top Navy series. Very nicely done kits for their time. Can be built full hull or waterline. Features propeller and shaft detail, separately molded turrets, stacks, many superstructure parts and more. The kit has never been started. NOTE: Missing two catapults for the aircraft. An excellent copy can be made with stock styrene of the correct size - I have included two pieces of stock plastic cut two the correct length so you can build the kit. It has been inventoried with all other parts and instructions. Many of the Pyro kits came from Eagle (then Eaglewall) molds in England. Eaglewall went out of business around 1962 and Pyro acquired at least some of the molds. Pyro reissued some of these kits in the mid 1960s with AJ Rudisill artwork. Evidently the line was successful, as Pyro then cut some of their own molds and expanded the series significantly. The earlier issues have the full color artwork and a three digit part number. Later issues have a 'B' or 'C' in front of the three digit kit number; some have simplified box art that is a modification of the original Rudisill paintings by painting out most of the background. Pyro issued these kits into the late 1960 when Life-Like took over the molds. Some were reissued by Life-Like.
