AMT Chrysler Imperial Western Pickup Truck, 1/25, T148-150

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$169

Very rare. I believe the base vehicle is a '65 Imperial and this was an Alexander Brothers custom job - but that is just conjecture. An excellent kit with full engine and compartment, opening hood, 'horseshoe' door handles and brake pedal, custom interior, optional top, branding iron or steer horns hood ornament and a large sheet of woodgrain and text decals (in 'new' condition). Also includes white wall stickers. Molded in white, clear, red-tinted clear, chrome plate and with rubber tires. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Precisia 1769 Le Fardier and Cugnot Automobile, 1/43

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$245

Very Rare. From the late 1950s. It is very finely molded for that time and is approximately 6 inches long when assembled. Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot was a French inventor who built the world's first automobile that could carry passengers. He first built a model in 1769, then the full sized version in 1770. He was a military engineer and the French Army showed great interest as this would an ideal way to move field artillery. The model and vehicle was know as fardier a vapeur (steam dray) and it did work, although not well enough for the Army to abandon horses. In 2010 a perfect copy was built at Arts et Metiers ParisTech and it performed perfectly. This is the only assembly kit known of this remarkable and historical vehicle. It is molded in red plastic and has 63 parts. The kit has never been started. All the parts but the frame are still in the factory sealed bag. The frame is intact and complete but never sealed. The instructions are present and in 'very good++' condition. They are in French but there is an old hand-written translation (from the early 1960s) of every word included. Precisia kits are so rare and almost never turn up for sale in public- only a small handful since 2009. Little is known about them beyond the fact that they are of high quality and cover unusual subjects. For years advanced collectors knew of Precisia and assumed them to be metal models...an easy mistake to make since no kits had ever been seen. We have only learned in the past 18 or so years that they were plastic. Precisia also made a 1900 Tonneau Renault 4 CV, Bugatti 1927, 1899 Grobron-Brillie and 1898 Coupe Peugeot model kits. Arnold Madderom reports that the 1898 Coupe Peugeot is molded in 3 colors- blue, black and clear plastic in 1/32 scale 1-32. The Gobron-Brillie is in 1-24. As far as the 1900 Tonneau Renault 4CV and Bugatti 1927, he has never seen them and has never heard of anyone seeing them; they were announced but probably never released.

Monogram TWA Douglas DC-3, 1/90, PA9-98

Aurora Atomic Submarine Nautilus SS571, 1/242, 500-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$165

Rare, Brooklyn-produced, early 1950s U-Ma-Kit. This was Aurora's first naval model. Molded in the correct glossy very dark gray plastic and includes a display stand and decals to match the box art. Never started and complete with all parts, 'very good++' condition decals and 'mint' instructions. The box has excellent color, four solid corners with no repairs, no fading and no price tags. The only tape is the factory sealing tape on the long sides. There is a light grease pencil price at the top center as shown and general shelf/edge wear.

Heller Boeing 707 - Air France ' Chateau de Versailles', 1/125, 700

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$125

Very rare, from the early 1960s One of two box versions of this kit. Early Heller issue with fantastic artwork. Early Heller kits had some wonderful engineering (such as in the Etendard IV and DC-8) and this model is no exception. The model was designed to minimize painting and is molded in white, gray, clear and includes black rubber tires. The fuselage lower section is molded in gray along with the wings and engines, and the upper fuselage is in white. There is a sheet of colorful Air France decals in very good condition. The landing gear and gear doors can be positioned up or down. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. Even includes original glue capsule and instructions for the glue.

Shizukyo German 75mm Assault Gun III Motorized With Light Up Gun Barrel, 1/50, TS-202-300

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$185

Very, very rare and a very nice investment. Shizukyo started in the 1960s but was out of business before the end of the decade. This kit is probably from about 1963/64 and is well molded and detailed for that time and features motorized operation on the rear drive wheels to move the treads and a large flashing red bulb at the end of the barrel that 'fires' the gun. Features TKK Mabuchi RE15 motor that is still in the original old-style TKK box, complete with printed plastic wrapper and sealed accessory bag, all metal gear box, wire and sealed bag with motorizing hardware, the red electric light bulb, glue and decals. The actual kit is molded in a black or very, very dark green plastic. Inside, the kit has never been touched. All the smaller parts are still in the factory sealed bags and the big one has a paper header. However, one of the two bags had a 2" tear, so I inventoried the bag - it is complete with all parts. The only parts that were not sealed are the upper and lower hull, upper and lower turret and gear box/gears/drive shaft. The instructions are in 'excellent' condition and the decals are still in the sealed bag and 'very good' with moderate yellowing being the only flaw. Amazingly, the treads are in 'near mint' condition and completely intact - they are still very flexible! NOTE: this kit must be shipped insured.

Frog Handley Page Victor B.1. Crescent Wing 'V Force' Bomber, 1/96, 355P

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$179

Rare. Classic 1950s Frog kit in large 1/96 scale of this famous 'V Force' Bomber. The box displays well with very nice color and gloss, but is graded only 'good' because one corner is split and has clear tape on it, there is clear tape on the sides where someone taped the box shut, and there is general wear as shown. Nicely molded kit with all recessed pane lines and full landing gear that can be installed up or retracted. The kit is molded in off-white and clear with the large, black Frog stand that was unique to the bigger kits. The decals are flat and in excellent condition - even the clear wax paper covering is intact. Instructions are excellent also. There is even an unopened tube of FROG Polystyrene Cement! The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Frog is considered the father of injection molded model kits. The Lines Brothers opened Frog in 1932, capitalizing on the fever caused by Lindberg's solo transatlantic flight. Almost overnight the western populations became 'Air-Minded', and anything aviation was in high demand. Frog created a quality line of stick and tissue rubber powered aircraft and gliders as well as innovative ready-to-fly rubber powered aircraft that required no assembly. The box even contained a built-in rubber motor winder and fuselage holder. Model airplane flight competitions were popular in Great Britain, and one category was 'Rise Off the Ground', or ROG. By changing this to 'Flies Right Off the Ground', the FROG name was born. In 1936 Frog created a line of injection molded plastic models, the first such kit line in the world (Hawk sold a line of injection molded aircraft models in 1934 but they were factory assembled and painted). Named 'Penguin' after the bird that does not fly, the kits were innovative beyond the means of production. At a time when models were simply built by wingspan, the Penguin line was a constant 1/72 scale. Furthermore, a large 1/72 Short S.30 Empire class flying boat contained a full interior and lights! A line of accessories such as AA guns, tractors, hanger, ambulance, sound locator, searchlights and lighting kits were quickly added to the line. WWII caused a pause in production. After the war the box color changed from silver to green, and Penguin kits were also marketed in the USA. Production ended in 1950. Frog quickly expanded and released the Red, Orange, Black, Green, Gold Token, Spin and Comet series as well as Trail Blazers and several others. It is noteworthy that while most manufacturers in the 1940s/50 were making toy-like models, Frog attempted to make very realistic models. For example, 'detailing' kits with excessively large rivets was once very popular. Frog ignored this trend and continued to mold aircraft with fine panel lines and no rivets. As a result, Frog kits can be built into very realistic replicas. Production ended in the late 1970s, but Frog molds are still in use around the world.

ITC SS France Ocean Liner - (Norway), 1/450, 3600-4-500

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$215

Very rare. First and only issue from 1963; very shortly after this kit was issued, ITC discontinued all plastic kit production. Large 1/450 scale kit of one of the most beautiful ocean liners of all time. Features very good detail for the 1960s, full hull that is 24.75 inches long, 124 parts, 2 winged funnels, 3 anchors, 4 propellers, 2 launches, 20 lifeboats, 2 whaleboats, detailed mast, kingposts and superstructure. Inside, the model has never been started. The kit is molded in black (hull), red (funnels and fittings) and ivory (promenade and superstructure) to minimize painting (like in the ITC United States). Kit also includes a beautiful letter (with a color painting of the France on the letterhead) from Georges Croisile, the Commandant of the French Line, introducing the kit and welcoming you onboard the real France one day. The kit has never been started. The red parts are still sealed in the factory bags. The other parts had tears in the bags due to age, so I opened them and did an inventory - NOTE: missing one tiny part, a lifeboat davit. Otherwise inventoried with all other parts present. Decals, flag sheet and instructions are included.
