1961 issue. Done in a big 1/16 scale, this kit and the other 'Old Timers' in the series represented a significant leap forward in quality for Aurora. The kit features full suspension, transaxle and driveline detail. It builds up a rolling chassis like the real car, and includes full exhaust and a detailed interior. Molded in gloss ivory, gloss black and with chrome plated parts and real rubber tires. The kit has never been started. Inside, it is exactly as it left the factory. The black parts are still in the factory sealed bags. The ivory, chrome and clear were never factory sealed and have been inventoried complete including the instructions. Please note that the radiator emblem is neatly broken off but present for a simple repair. Aurora was renowned for turning a profit and for keeping expenses down. In researching new kit subjects, they came upon a forgotten jewel - the Hudson Miniatures line of 1/16 scale wooden kits. Hudson had discontinued this line due to lack of sales of wooden kits. But the Hudson models were second to none in quality, research and documentation. Aurora was quick to realize this and used the research and layout from these kits to create the subjects for this 'Old Timers' series. It is fortunate for us that they did, because in most cases this is the only injection molded kit of these rare and classic early automobiles.

Still factory sealed. This Profile Series model is from the 1970s and contains markings & painting guide for all three versions shown. The Profile Series was part of a model kit marketing program by MPC/General Mills in the early to mid 1970s. The kit inside is from quality Airfix molds, but the instructions, decals and box is MPC. This series likely seemed like an ideal follow-on for the previous MPC-Airfix joint venture, which was the 1960s 'Craftmaster' line which is well known today for the dramatic and colorful box artwork.

1960s issue of this high-quality model from the original Adams Action Model molds. Features working bogies, flexible tracks, crew of two and four soldiers and more. Never started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. These molds must have had a very interesting history. The molds were cut in the late 1950s, either at Adams or by one of Revell's contractors. It appeared to be part of the Adams/Revell 1/40 line but only Adams issued the kit. When Adams divested of the plastic kit business, most if not all of the molds were purchased by Athearn, the famous craftsman HO railroad kit manufacturer. Athearn called their new division SNAP Plastics with an address of Hillside, New Jersey. When SNAP ceased production, UPC issued this kit. While most UPC kits say 'Made in Japan' the ex-SNAP issues say 'Made in the USA' so perhaps they were molded by Athearn in New Jersey or at least a contractor. Things get even more interesting with the Life-Like issue. How Life-Like came across the molds is unfortunately unknown but it may have been in a bulk-purchase of molds from Athearn since there were in the same general part of the country. This is simply conjecture, however.

Very rare 1970s multi-media, large-scale model made by Wagner Metal Craft of Japan. Other scale models in the series included the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, Lincoln 1928 Model L Convertible, Rolls-Royce 1931 Phantom II and Duesenberg 1934 Model SJ Town Car. This Bearcat features right around 100 pieces, suspension & axle detail, spoked wheels, rubber tires, detailed interior, clear windshield and more. The box top photo is a photo of the actual model kit assembled. You can paint it for better realism if you wish, but painting is not required as all parts come in the come in the colors shown. The parts are metal and injection molded plastic. There is no engine in this model but the hood can be removed. Underside detail is limited to the suspension & axles as well as what is molded into the underpan. Never started and all of the parts are still on the internal factory sealed colored cardboard blister displays and includes instructions. NOTE: the scale is approximate. The kit measures very close to 10 inches when assembled; I took the length of the actual car as 160 inches; hence the 1/16 scale. So I am anything but certain; so please do your own research and see if you agree with my numbers.
