  Hawk Model Kits

Hawk Nieuport 17 C-1, 1/48, 613-60

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$22

Dated 1958 but more likely a mid 1960s issue. Cleanly molded in silver plastic with recessed and raised detail. Never started and inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Hawk T-6 Texan Trainer 'Picture Gallery' Issue, 1/72, 610-50

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$30

1950s hard-to-find hardbox 'Picture Gallery' issue with unique artwork. Very nicely molded in silver plastic with a clear green-tinted windshield and instructions and decals that are correct for this early release. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Box displays very nice but has some bug damage to the litho on the sides.

Hawk Supermarine Swift K-4 - One Piece Box Issue, 1/72, 607

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$59

Rare one-piece 'flip top' box issue from the late 1940s/early 1950s. Very cleanly molded kit that builds very nicely. Molded in the correct gloss silver with green-tinted clear canopy. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. The Swift was a very early jet fighter to replace the Supermarine Attacker. A very capable aircraft, the Swift suffered numerous accidents early on. As a result, less than 200 were ever built and it did not see combat. It did hold a world speed record for a short time, only to have a Douglas Skyray take the record a few hours later. The problems were ironed out, but by then the Hawker Hunter was proving very capable and there was no need for the Swift and it's RAF service life was short. The most successful version was the PR variant.

Hawk Westland Mk II Lysander, 1/48, 563-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM

$42

1967 hardbox issue with John Andrews artwork in wonderful 'near mint' condition. Very nicely detailed for that time with full cockpit for pilot and observer, opening canopy, detailed engine and optional bomb load. Never started. 100% complete with all parts decals and instructions.

Hawk North American P-51 Mustang Fighter - USAF or Israeli Markings, 1/48, 156-150

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$46

1962 large hardbox issue with very desirable Bill Campbell artwork of Mustangs strafing a German airfield. This was an excellent kit for that time - well detailed and includes drop tanks, rocket launchers, rotating wheels and propeller, pilot and optional position canopy. Molded in silver, black and clear. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Hawk F-84F Thunderstreak Picture Gallery, 1/72, 606-50

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$48

Rare early issue hardbox Hawk kit. The rare 'Picture Gallery' series was Hawk's first move away from the thin one piece boxes and to full color artwork. The artist doing this early work fell sick and Hawk needed the artwork immediately - Bill Campbell was contacted and did box art for Hawk from that point on. Hawk was a manufacturer of 1/48 constant scale solid wooden models well before plastic, but they jumped on the plastic band wagon very early. The kit is molded in the correct glossy silver with the early style stand and correct instructions and decals. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Thanks to Jean-Claude who told me that the boxart shows a standard F-84F but in reality the model inside is of prototype YF-96A, (aka YF-84F), s/n 49-2430. this aircraft was later modified to become the YRF-84F parasite fighter in combination with GRB-36F.It is on display at the USAF Museum, Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio.

Hawk Silly Surfers Hodad Makin' The Scene With A Six Pack, 543-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$32

This is the original 1964 Hawk issue, not the common reissue. Very nicely molded with base and features stupendous, smelly stogie, detailed personable pelican, finely sculptured features ("charming - debonair"!), six pack, crushed cans, clam and more. The poem on the instructions really puts this into perspective with Hodad's '...dirty hair and greasy fingernails...and messy trails.' The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. In 1962, Bill Campbell thought that kids may be tired of the same old modeling subjects, and he created the Weird-Ohs, which lead to the Silly Surfers. Of course it was not that simple - it never is. Please read Bill's own account of the Weird-Ohs on this website. Regardless of the path, the Weird-Ohs became an overnight sensation that helped launch the 'monster' and the 'figure' phase of modeling.

Hawk Nieuport 17 - Flip-Top Box Issue, 1/48, 706

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+++

$48

First issue from the 1950s in the one-piece box. The box is in excellent condition. Inside, the kit parts are still sealed in the original factory crinkle bag. Molded in high gloss yellow and black. In the 1920s/30/s/40s Hawk made constant scale 1/48 aircraft kits from wood. In 1946 they added plastic injection molded kits to the line and were possibly the first injection molded kit manufacturer in the USA. When Hawk made an early jump to all-plastic kits they kept the 1/48 scale and created these new one-piece boxes with two color artwork. The model has not been started. Complete with instructions and all parts. This is from the early part of the first issue, and Hawk did not issue decals until later.
