Revell 1910 Hudson Highway Pioneers - US Antique Series, 1/32, H82-89

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

1956/7 issue molded very nicely in a gloss white plastic. The kit has not been started. Inventoried complete with all parts. Includes instructions. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.

Life-Like 1908 Lanchester, C463

Life-Like issue. From Pyro molds (see the end of this description for details). Nicely detailed kit for the time. Features detailed chassis and suspension with exhaust and steering linkage, full interior, complete motor, removable hood and parts molded in brown, clear, brass plate and with real rubber tires. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including instructions. On the side of the box it says 'Made Under License From Pyro Plastics Corp, Union, New Jersey', so clearly the molds came from Pyro. Part layout and design is identical to the other 'Brass Car' kit issues from Pyro. Also interesting is the Life-Like part number of C463. This number has no relation to any Life-Like part number, but is certainly a Pyro style part number code. In October of 1969 Pyro issued C462 (one number less), the 1906 Renault. It is possible that Pyro never issued the Lanchester under the Pyro name. But clearly, when Life-Like obtained manufacturing license in the early 1970s, the molds for this kit were owned by Pyro.

SPECIAL ORDER vacuform kit. Not shipped from stock. Kit is molded upon receipt of payment. Time from receipt to shipping your kit is usually 8 to 10 weeks. This particular kit is very cleanly molded for a vac kit and features all recessed details. Kit includes resin and/or metal details -clear canopy and full size plans/instructions. Details include main and nose struts, wheels, jet compressor intake, turbine exhaust, main and nose strut detail, ejection seat, instrument panels, control stick and two inlet cones. Other parts will need to be scratch built or from your spares box. Decals not furnished. Vacuform kits are only recommended for modelers who are experienced with this type of model. HMV Wespe & Natter With PE Details - Panzerkanonenboote (River and Coastal Defense Ships), 1/250

Cardstock Paper Model Kit,   Box Condition: No Box

Includes HMV Wespe and Natter photoetch detail set with one large fret. It is still factory sealed. Includes numerous parts including davits, grated platforms, reel ends, capstan tops, railings, stairs with rails, anchors, chains and much, much more. The actual kit builds both ships. They are large scale, very highly detailed cardstock models with 1116 parts on 8 sheets (part and sheet count is for both ships). Beautifully color printed on quality cardstock. No painting required - just build! Features 5 pages of completely illustrated building instructions. Never started; nothing has been cut out and all the sheets are in excellent condition. 100% complete. The 'Wasp' class consisted of eleven armored gunboats of the Imperial German Navy . The boats were used for the defense of the German Wadden and estuaries in the German Bight. They were constructed from 1875 to 1881 at AG Weser in Bremen. From 1877 to 1900, the units were actively used; but as they aged, they were put into reserve service. Most were stricken as warship by 1911, but almost all found other uses- the Viper, for example, was a floating crane as late as the 1960s!

Pyro Merrimac Confederate Ram Ironclad, C259-98

Rare early issue of the Merrimac alone. Usually this kit is only seen in the release that contains it and the Monitor. Great hardbox artwork by AJ Rudisill from the late 50s or early 1960s. The Merrimac was one of two American Civil war ships that spelled the end of the wooden ship age. In March of 1862, the Merrimac put to sea to raise the Union Blockade off the James River. There she sank the Cumberland and Congress. The Monitor, the Union's only ironclad and the first turret ship, was rushed to the scene. The epic battle between the two iron-clad ships ended in a draw, with the Merrimac suffering a little more damage than the Monitor. The Merrimac was blown up to avoid capture; the Monitor sank in a gale in 1862. The Merrimac is 11 inches long when built, is a full hull model and includes a display stand. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. NOTE: instructions are photocopies of the original. Although dated, the Pyro Merrimac and Monitor kits are generally considered superior to the Lindberg models of the same ships.

1930s/40s kit of this famous battle ship. Kit measures 6 inches long when built. Consists of block balsa, wood stock, printwood, full size plans and color flags. This is the New York in the single funnel configuration after the 1930s refit. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, flags and instructions. The box looks better than 'Good-' in the photo, but the left end flap has come off. The flap is in two pieces and is in the box.

Airfix DH-88 Comet Racer, 1/72, 00013

This kit is still factory sealed. Nicely molded kit of this classic racer. In 1934, Capt. Scott and Capt. Black piloted the Comet and won the first MacRobertson Air Race from England to Australia. The DH-88 was designed specifically for this race and performed wonderfully.

Lindberg Blue Devil Destroyer USS Melvin (Fletcher Class) - Motorized for R/C, 1/125, 815M

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Three-foot long WWII Fletcher DD for free run or remote control. If used free running, it can be programmed to do rectangles, figure 8, circle or sail straight. Very good detail. Includes motor and all other running hardware and gears. NOTE: the hull below the waterline has been airbrushed a correct red. The quality of paint is excellent++ to professional. There is no other painting and no assembly. NOTE: missing one part, (1) #126 blast bag for gun (the other four blast bags are present). Inventoried with all other parts, decals and instructions present. Two posts have broken off one prop guard but they are present; the tip of the front deck has cleanly broken off and is present as well. Both are a simple repair.

Mirage Hobby ORP Blyskawica (Grom Class Destroyer), 1/400, 40013

Very nice full hull kit. Well detailed and molded. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The mighty Grom class destroyers were among the most powerful DDs of WWII. They were built by British shipbuilder J. Samuel White between 1935 and 1936. Grom and Blyskawica were both present at the Norway invasion but the Grom was sunk. Blyskawica went on to have a highly distinguished and active service career all through WWII. She was even chosen to escort the Queen Mary simply because she was one of the few destroyers that could keep up with the superliner. The Blyskawica is preserved today as a museum ship, the oldest DD in existence.

Third box art issue of this Aurora kit which is dated 1962 but is actual a year or so after that because there is no 'Famous Fighters' in the border of the Aurora logo. Full hull model. From 2004. Very nicely done model that is 15 inches length overall when completed. Features pre-carved hardwood hull, many pre-cut wooden parts, masts, spars, rigging material and diagrams, flag, full size drawings and instructions. The kit has never been started. The small parts are still factory sealed; those not factory sealed have been inventoried complete with flag and instructions.
