Includes PFK-COM4C Comet 4C Wings designed for this model. This is an excellent conversion, molded in high-definition resin with full instructions, drawing and a list of airlines and registration numbers that operated the 4C. The conversion is never used and complete. The actual kit is from 1994. Very nice model ofthe world's first jet airliner. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. The initial Comet I was in operation long before the 707, which gave the British an incredible post-war lead in the expanding civil aviation market. Just as the Comet was flying high and orders were pouring in from around the world, Comets began to mysteriously fall out of the sky. Everything from lighting to terrorist bombs were blamed. For months the root cause went undiscovered. Then, in a landmark investigation that is considered the first modern post-crash autopsy, it was discovered that the stresses around a small ADF window on the top of the fuselage were causing metal fatigue failure when the fuselage was pressurized. To confirm this, a Comet I was placed in a water tank and subjected to pressurization stresses. After some time, a dramatic failure occurred. Then parts of a crashed Comet were pulled from underwater proving once and for all that this was the root cause.

SALE! Classic late 1950/early 1960 kit by Pyro Plastics of Union, NJ. The kit consists of a 'Design-A-Matic' Slide Computer ('Validated by Remington Rand Univac Division'), a series of aircraft fuselage, nose and tail cone sections as well as canopies, different styles of wings, rudders and elevators (all very roughly 1/48 scale), two stands, landing gear and reusable insignia stickers (CCCP, USA, RAF and France) and full instructions. With the instructions and computer you can build one of over 4000 variations of jet fighter designs. The parts are snap together so they can be used again and again. This issue has the great internal cardboard presentation parts. The kit has not been started. Includes all parts, computer, instructions and sticker sheet. A few of the stickers (two red stars) look to be have been taken off and neatly put back on the sheet - none are missing. The Design-A-Plane kit was one of a series of design kits, including the Design-A-Car, Design-A-House and the Design-A-House Master Set.

The collector stored his kits in bags because of limited storage space. He was very precise; the canopy is bagged separate to prevent scratching, the small parts are in a zip lock for protection and then put into a larger sealed bag with the bigger parts and instructions. Decals are excellent. Very nicely molded and detailed model in the best Monogram tradition. Features very fine raised panel detail, full cockpit, optional position landing gear, optional closed one piece or open four piece canopy, pilot, belly tank and working landing flaps.
