Still factory sealed but the seal has damage and splits. The later 'light weight' box shows storage damage also. 1974 issue of Aurora's 'Super Detailed Museum Model with Plated Parts.' Done in a big 1/16 scale, this kit and the other 'American Classics' (previously released as the 'Old Timers') represented a significant leap forward in quality for Aurora. The Bearcat builds up a rolling chassis with transaxle, suspension, exhaust and drive line detail and includes a detailed interior with separately molded instruments. Molded in bright red, black and with brass plated parts and real rubber tires. Aurora was renowned for turning a profit and for keeping expenses down. In researching new kit subjects, they came upon a forgotten jewel - the Hudson Miniatures line of 1/16 scale wooden kits. Hudson had discontinued this line due to lack of sales of wooden kits. But the Hudson models were second to none in quality, research and documentation. Aurora was quick to realize this and used the research and layout from these kits to create the subjects for this 'Old Timers' series. It is fortunate for us that they did, because in most cases this is the only injection molded kit of these rare and classic early automobiles.

I have done this type of repair before; it is certainly possible but is time consuming and I only recommend it if you have built these types of models before. There is no other construction. NOTE: missing balancing clay and nylon line for U-Control. Otherwise inventoried with all other parts, decals and plans.

Large-scale, well detailed kit dated 1964. Can be flown rubber free flight, gas free flight, or converted to electric RC using modern servos and receivers. Well detailed with die cut balsa parts, rubber motor, plywood firewall, scale plastic wheels, plastic propeller, vacuform nose / machine guns / pilot busts, two big sheets of full color decals, covering tissue and excellent full size plans. There has been no assembly. NOTE: some parts are neatly punched out with no breaks. Missing (1) E1 trailing edge and (1) K6 rudder control horn. Both parts are from flat balsa and can be easily made using the full size parts plan on the instructions. Otherwise inventoried with all other parts, decals and instructions. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.
