In the 1930s and 1940s, most modelers built the flying stick and tissue type models with rubber, co2 or gas power. But there were a small but measurable percent that built solid aircraft display models of great detail. This required great skill worthy of the shipbuilders of old, especially considering the limited offerings. Many manufacturers issued blocks of wood and a plan - the famous (or infamous) 'Make Wood Look Like Plane' kits. A few manufacturers made expensive super detailed kits with metal accessories (like Dyna-Products). Comet came in the middle and struck a nice balance of detail and cost. The F6F features profile cut parts, color decals, finished wheels, printwood, templates, wood stock and a very large and detailed sheet of drawings including detailed construction steps. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Features more than 50 parts, conformal fuel tanks, optional position gear, pylons, weapons load with Mk.20 Rockeye bombs, two GBU-8 guided bombs, two AIM-9 Sidewinders, 30mm gun pod, optional position canopy and speed brakes and decals for the No.1 Strike Eagle. Unusual subject from 1955. This all-plastic kit has very nice detail for that time and does not need painted because it is molded in white, red, black and the decorative trim is gold. The model has never been started. Inventoried complete with all parts and instructions present. Globe made an entire series of these circus models so you could 'Build A Complete Circus.' Other kits included Steam Calliope Wagon, Knights in Armour Band Wagon, Lion Cage Wagon, Bear Cage Wagon , Tableau Wagon (this kit) and probably others.

Very Rare. From 1954. Box artwork by M Jovine is also dated 1954. Large kit in 1/48 scale. Molded in the correct white, red and gold. Includes three highly detailed horses, hitch, carriage with frame detail, rope and metal chain, along with four firefighters and a Dalmatian dog. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. NOTE: although all parts are present, there are four breaks in the very fine railing. Three of the small broken parts are present; a short one is missing. These are easily made from pulled sprue or cylindrical stock. Marlin first cut the molds in 1952 and issued the six original American Firefighters (Chemical and Ladder, Steamer, Hook and Ladder, Water Tower, Aerial Ladder and Hose Reel) in 1952. Revell signed a marketing agreement with Marlin in 1953. Five of the kit were released with the Revell name and marketing name 'Collectors Kits, Closter N.J.' Revell added the horse parts as they were not originally part of the Marlin issues. The kits made excellent display pieces, but they never caught the imagination of young men like jet aircraft did. The five molds were shipped to Brazil. After run for Kikoler (Revell Brazil's Distributor), they were shipped back to the USA but the molds were lost at sea. This issue is from when Revell still had the marketing agreement, as it says 'Trade Mark Copyright 1954 Marlin Toy Co. Inc' on the box top and 'Collector's Kits, Inc, Closter, N.J.' on the side.

From 1966. This is one of a wonderful and extensive line of 1/48 car kits from Renwal that include a clear showcase. Perfect as a stand-alone model or for use in 1/48 dioramas and O Scale train layouts. Renwal did an excellent job on engineering and detail with this series. Features full interior, detailed undersides and more. All body and chassis parts are molded in the proper colors as well as clear, chrome and/or brass plated and with real rubber tires. There is no painting required. The instructions include a history of the automobile and on the back is a large fold-out full color display (a small poster) of all 23 available cars. Very rare kit for the advanced collector. From the very early 1950s. This is the O-Lin issue of the Varney LST. The Varney kit line was introduced in the late 1940s and was very innovative - including the multi-media LST and PT boat and what was likely the first injection molded airplane (PT-17) and ship model (Fleet Sub) kits in the USA. These excellent kits were unsuccessful due to poor distribution and incorrect marketing by retailers. Varney soon discontinued production of these four kits. O-Lin, (Mr. Olsen and Paul Lindberg) purchased these molds and modified them in several ways. The LST had been a wooden kit with dozens of injection molded detail parts. The O-Lin kit utilized the injection molded details (done in multi-color tennite plastic), but created a vacuform hull, cardboard deck, water-slide decals and flags and soldered metal wire railings. O-Lin did not use the wooden hull from Varney as a form for the vac hull, but created their own. This kit has not been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the factory sealed bag. The rest of the parts have been inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Rare. When the Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' burst upon the hobby scene in 1951, they started a hobby revolution. Plastic model kits were not new in 1951, but successful mass marketing of plastic kits was new. The sensation swept the country, and Gowland & Revell could not make the kits fast enough. The fact that the public was buying these models shocked the successful hobby establishment. One such manufacture was Hudson Miniatures. In the 1940s, Hudson had established a name in making 1/16 scale 'Old Timer' models of automobiles. These were excellent kits with wood and metal parts, but a high degree of skill was required to carve and finish the wood parts. In the late 1940s, they added some injection molded plastic parts (usually acetate wheels) to the series but did not consider a completely plastic kit. When Hudson saw what was happening with the Highway Pioneers, he began to design his own 1/32 scale line called 'Lil Old Timers', which hit the stores in 1954. An early paper fold-out catalog shows 18 models including some real gems like the 1910 International Harvester Passenger Car, 1911 Brush Delivery Truck and 1906 Columbia Electric Car just to name a few. The line was bought by Revell a short time after it's release, and Revell did reissue some (but not all) of the kits. As you would expect from Hudson, this is a nice kit with excellent moldings and detail for the time. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.
