Fantastic Cold-War artwork on this early issue. From the late 1950s. The Ethan Allen was the lead submarine of her class. Classic large (24" long) SSBN kit actual fires a spring-loaded Polaris Missiles from the hull launch tube. Highly detailed and well molded for that time. Hobby-Time Bell XV-3 US Army Convertiplane, 1/43, 901-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+++

Sold

From the 1950s. One and only issue. This one is fresh from the shipping box but has a very slight factory flaw on it - there is a very small crease running vertically from just right of the forward rotor hub up to the top edge of the box. It is very hard to see and is only visible at certain angles. I personally removed these kits from the original Hobby-Time shipping box - it is the first time they have seen light since the factory. This is a very nice kit for that time with fine raised panel lines, interior detail and molded in gloss silver and clear. The kit has never been started. The original 'krinkle' bag is present but brittle and cracked. I inventoried the parts and they are 100% present. The decals and instructions are in 'mint' condition.

The model can be built two ways - one that flies (with mainly vacuform parts) and a display one with main vacuform parts, injection molded pilot, landing gear, wheels, etc and a display stand. The kit has never been started. Internal factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions.

Lindberg Lockheed F-80C (P-80) Shooting Star, 1/48, 500-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

Sold

From the early 1950s. Rare, very early Lindberg issue with the 'Round Script" logo, the first for Lindberg. The logo is located on the right lower corner of the box top and on the two long sides. Molded in gloss silver and clear. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Paul Lindberg got his start in 1930s model aviation by designing, building and flying stick and tissue aircraft. His plans appeared in Popular Aviation magazine and he soon made a name for himself. When injection molding showed the way to increased kit sales in the late 1940s/early 1950s, he quickly teamed up with Mr. Olsen to create 'O-lin' models. Ray Gaedke was one the the early artists for O-lin, and he help pioneer dramatic and colorful box artwork. In the early 1950s Paul Lindberg was running the company and had the logo changed to his name. The first logo was circular, with 'Lindberg' in middle and 'Products' 'Incorporated' arched across the top and bottom. The second logo is the 'Yellow Square' that is on this kit. Ray Gadke continued his bold and colorful artwork for Lindberg and did this F-80C boxart as well.

Lindberg Douglas F4D-1 Skyray - (F4D1), 1/48, 562-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Rare 'green' box art issue from the late 1950s. Fantastic artwork is by Ray Gaedke, who painted both of the Skyray issues for Lindberg. Kit features fine raised details, moving rudder and wing control surfaces, complete jet engine and opening inspection cover, pilot, two drop tanks, underwing rockets and a clear display stand. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Box shows 'excellent' but is graded lower because there is clear tape on the sides and one piece of factory clear tape on the box top. If you are interested, this is best removed by soaking it with lighter fluid. Lindberg is a company with a fascinating history The original 'Lindberg Line' stretches back to the 1930s when Paul Lindberg drew plans for famous modeling magazines and marketed his balsa wood 'stick and tissue' by urging dealers to carry the '...Complete Lindberg Line'. After the war, Lindberg and Olsen had a strong hand in early United States injection molded kit development. Please see the article located on this website about early USA plastic kit manufacturers.

Lindberg Lockheed F-80C (P-80) Shooting Star, 1/48, 500-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Sold

From original O-lin molds. 1950 kit with Ray Gaedke hardbox artwork. Never started. NOTE: missing pilot seat. Otherwise inventoried complete with all other parts, decals and instructions. It is true that earlier versions of this kit did not come with a seat and/or pilot - at one point it was not even shown on the instructions. The first seat was a simple horizontal 'plank. I have seen so many of these with no seat at all that I feel these may be old O-Lin kits that Lindberg wished to use up, so he put them in new Lindberg boxes with new instructions. Kabaya DSV Shinkai 6500 Research Submarine, 1/96

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

Sold

Hard-to-find. Although the box appears toy-like, this is actually a large-scale model although a simple one. The plastic parts are on two sprue with recessed panel lines and 'very good' detail. General appearance and shape is very accurate to the actual vessel, which is the world's deepest diving manned submarine. The model is molded in a softer white plastic and has 15 parts, full decals (stickers) and very nice heavily illustrated instructions. The kit has never been started is complete. In case you were wondering (and I know some of you are),] "Big*1" is a rather giant stick of chewing gum, which is also included.
