Large kit that is nicely detailed and molded with all recessed panel lines. The kit has never been started. The Type XXI U-Boats were the world's first true submarines; they could travel at high speeds for great distances underwater and attack without visual contact with the targets. The 'snort' allowed them to recharge the batteries and renew the air, eliminating the last needs for surfacing. A development of the Walther Peroxide Boats, the XXIs were seen as a faster way to put a more advanced submarine into service.

From the 1950s. One and only issue. This one is fresh from the shipping box but has a very slight factory flaw on it - there is a very small crease running vertically from just right of the forward rotor hub up to the top edge of the box. It is very hard to see and is only visible at certain angles. I personally removed these kits from the original Hobby-Time shipping box - it is the first time they have seen light since the factory. This is a very nice kit for that time with fine raised panel lines, interior detail and molded in gloss silver and clear. The kit has never been started. The original 'krinkle' bag is present but brittle and cracked. I inventoried the parts and they are 100% present. The decals and instructions are in 'mint' condition.
