Life-Like 1909 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost (Ex-Pyro), 1/32, 09456

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

Life-Like release from original quality Pyro molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of their kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. Even luckier is the fact that Life-Like reissued most of these kits. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. In some cases, the specific car and owner is on the box. Features detailed chassis, complete motor and interior and a removable hood or 'bonnet.' It has rubber tires, brass colored (not plated) parts, medium blue and clear parts. Jo-Han 1960 Desoto Adventurer Two Door Hardtop, 1/25, C4460

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

The long, low lines and graceful fins stretching from the "A" pillar to the taillights made for a beautiful Desoto. Sales in 1960 lagged, however. It was not that the car was bad - the cars were reliable and stunning performers. Desoto was more the victim of corporate political infighting than anything else. The 1960s were the last full line, with a brief introduction of two Desoto Automobiles in 1961. Since Desoto cars were still in demand, some dealerships even sued the Chrysler Corporation for discontinuing the line. The model is very well molded and with excellent detail for that time. Model features full engine and detailed compartment, opening hood, full interior, spotlight, gearshift/turn signal/tach assembly, seat belts and side view mirrors. Molded in turquoise (blue), clear, red-tinted clear, chrome plate parts and rubber tires. Chrome and clear are in 'excellent++' condition. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all other parts and instructions. Please NOTE that one part (windshield washer bag) is red; it is from this kit but one molded in red.

Hudson Miniatures 1904 Curved Dash Oldsmobile Lil' Old Timers 'Quickie Kit', 1/32

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Rare. When the Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' burst upon the hobby scene in 1951, they started a hobby revolution. Plastic model kits were not new in 1951, but successful mass marketing of plastic kits was. The sensation swept the country, and Gowland & Revell could not make the kits fast enough. The fact that the public was buying these models shocked the successful hobby establishment. One such manufacture was Hudson Miniatures. In the 1940s, Hudson had established a name in making 1/16 scale 'Old Timer' models of automobiles. These were excellent kits with wood and metal parts, but a high degree of skill was required to carve and finish the wood parts. In the late 1940s, they added some injection molded plastic parts (usually acetate wheels) to the series but did not consider a completely plastic kit. When Hudson saw what was happening with the Highway Pioneers, he began to design his own 1/32 scale line called 'Lil Old Timers,' which hit the stores in 1954. An early paper fold-out catalog shows 18 models including some real gems like the 1910 International Harvester Passenger Car, 1911 Brush Delivery Truck and 1906 Columbia Electric Car just to name a few. The line was bought by Revell a short time after the release, and Revell did reissue some (but not all) of the kits. As you would expect from Hudson, this is a nice kit with excellent moldings and detail for the time. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. The 1904 Oldsmobile was the first production car in America and was considered very dependable. To emphasize it's simplicity and dependability, Oldsmobile invented the slogan 'Nothing to Watch but the Road'. Gus Edward's hit song of 1905, 'In My Merry Oldsmobile' was a tribute to the popularity of the car. It was powered by a single cylinder engine of 4.5 horsepower.

Aurora Grumman F9F Panther Jet, 1/49, 22-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

Dated 1960, but I believe this is actually a later issue due to the 100 cent price extension and no 'Famous Fighters' logo on the short box sides. Molded in a brilliant gloss deep blue and clear with the clear triangle 'World' stand. These molds are from one of Aurora's first two kits - the F9F and F-90. Aurora simply went out and purchased the early Hawk F9F and F-90 kits and copied them almost exactly. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Decals are intact but have micro-cracking from age.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++++

Sold

1954 first issue pre-'S' hardbox in excellent condtion. Classic artwork by Richard Kishady. This kit is the true first issue which was released with the one-piece 'Revelving' stand arm.
