Entex 1804 Trevithick The World's First Steam Locomotive - With Display Case, 1/38, 8200

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes instructions. The world's first locomotive was the 1804 Trevithick. On February 13 of that year, Richard Trevithick's high pressure steam locomotive pulled five wagons carrying 10 tons of iron and 70 men on the Penydaren Tramroad from Methyr to Abercynon, Wales. The nine miles was covered in four hours and five minutes but much time was lost cutting down several trees and removing some large rocks. At times they reached the unheard of speed of five miles per hour! The performance won a 500 Pound wager for the train's owner, Mr. Samuel Homfrey and proved for once and for all that smooth steel wheels could obtain traction on a smooth iron rail. Until this day, conventional wisdom insisted that only geared wheels running on geared track would be able to pull any load up the slightest grade.

Very rare and highly detailed kit. Owen Gordon, of Fair Lawn NJ made a series of pre-fabricated wood and metal tank kits in 1985. Kit features completely cut, formed and drilled hardwood main hull parts, smaller precut wooden parts, a vast number of cast metal parts and two pages of superbly detailed, full-size plans - one for each of the named tanks. The kit has never been started. The metal fittings and small wood parts are all still in the factory sealed bags. The bigger wood parts were not factory sealed have been inventoried complete including plans. Please make sure you can build from plans as instructions were not furnished.

The parts that were factory sealed (the numerous fittings) are still in the sealed bags except one: the tread bag came opened. I inventoried them complete and placed them in a zip-lock. The parts that were not factory sealed (wood) have been inventoried complete including instructions.

Life-Like Robert E. Lee Mississippi Steam Boat - (ex-Pyro), 1/160, B237-800

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

1970 issue from original Pyro molds. Very large and well detailed kit for that time. The race between the Lee and Natchez is considered a classic tale of The River. Although the Lee won, the circumstances were suspect and many people still considered the Natchez the fastest paddle-wheel packet ever. (For example, the Lee carried no payload and the Natchez was carrying passengers and a normal payload.) All details of the real ship, including the wooden railings and carvings are duplicated in plastic. Includes full rigging instructions and thread. Molded in tan and ivory plastic. The kit has never been started. The parts that were factory sealed are still in the sealed bags. The very few parts that were never factory sealed have been inventoried complete including decals/flags and instructions. NOTE: parts are from the Life-Like issue, but the instructions and decals are from a newer Lindberg issue. This is ideal as a builder because you get the earlier mold quality, the Lindberg instructions are much better and the decals are fresh and also better than what Life-Like provided.
