North Pacific Bipe 21 inch Wingspan Rubber Powered Biplane Model, D-129-3

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

Sold

Rare; part of the scarce 'Deluxe Flying Model' series from North Pacific. North Pacific was famous for making the rubber powered Sleek Streak and Star Flyer which not only flew circles around the rubber/stick competition, but could be modified to achieve near-competition performance. The glider line included the fantastic Stunt Flier, which for an 'out of the envelope' design, flew very, very well. But North Pacific went all out with this new 'guaranteed to fly' cabin design - a big departure from the profile sticks. The kit features sheet balsa covering, reinforced with hi-impact plastic inside. Can be flown with a .010 gas motor also. Includes very detailed, illustrated instructions and also comprehensive 'how to fly' instructions. The model has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The entire series consisted of the Bipe, Sport'r, Dust'r and Race'r. The Sport'r, Race'r and Dust'r were quoted as flying 1/8 of a mile and Bipe 1/10 of a mile. Detailed instructions are included for gas engine installation. The high price and very short issue has made all of these kits very rare.

Renwal Nike Ajax MIM-3 Missile Store Display, 1/32

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: No Box

Sold

For the advanced collector and investor. Very rare and in exceptional, all original condition. This is a Adams-factory built display built for hobby shop promotional use. The intention was simple- if hobby shops would purchase and display these dioramas, potential buyers would see the model build and immediately purchase the kit. This probably worked well; but the hitch was that these displays were expensive, so few hobby shops could afford them back in the 1950s. And of the ones made, there was heavy attrition. Parts broke, and when the new kits came out next year, they were thrown away to make room for more. Which makes the 'excellent' condition of this one even more exceptional. The actual model is very neatly built and painted, is missing no parts and has had no repairs. The paint is 'excellent+' and the decals are very good with the typical yellowing and wear as shown . The 3-D cardboard display is 'excellent.' There are no rips, tears, repair, tape or missing material. The only damage is a light crease near the words 'nike man' at the top center, a light crease at the top left, and a slight stain under the '81.' A superb 'no apologies' piece. NOTE: this kit must be shipped insured. NOTE: It will be packed as well as possible in a double box, but be aware that some small parts or men may come loose during shipping and may have to repaired on your end.

Guillows SE-5 Scout - 18 inch Wingspan Rubber Powered Balsa Wood Kit, WW-5

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

Sold

Still factory sealed. From 1965. One of a very popular line of World War 1 flying aircraft stick and tissue kits with 18 inch wingspan. Kit features scale plastic wheels, plastic propeller, light vacuform nose cowl, die cut balsa parts, colored tissue, rubber motor and full decals. Includes full size detailed plans. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.
