Pyro Auburn 1935 Supercharged 851 Boattail Speedster, 1/25, 228

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$54

Rare true first issue with the 'black' box style and beautiful art. The '35 Auburn weighed 4200 lbs. and was one of the few cars of that time to have hydraulic brakes. Power came from a 150hp (@4000) supercharged engine with three inch exhaust pipes that easily sped the car to over 100 mph. Ab Jenkins set a record with a stock issue 851 at Bonneville Salt Flats in July of 1935, and became the first one to pilot a stock car for over 12 hours at an average of over 100 mph. Molded in gloss deep red plastic. Features detailed engine, hinging/opening hood and good interior detail. Never started. The parts are all still factory sealed in the original 'krinkle' bag. With instructions. This was one of Pyro's first car kits. On the side, there are color illustrations of the Lincoln Continental, Duesenburg Roadster J, Cord Convertible and Pierce Silver Arrow. Interestingly, the Duesenburg and Pierce Arrow in 1/24 scale were projected; for one reason or another Pyro never cut the molds so they were never issued.

Pyro Chevrolet 1952 Fas-back (Fastback) Two Door Sedan, 1/32, C293-50

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$38

Late 1960s Pyro issue from original molds. In the early to mid 1960s the Pyro company chose many of the kit subjects based more on historical significance than popularity. Luckily for us, Pyro not only made these kits but did an excellent job for the time. The Pyro car models are based on the actual cars that Pyro engineers and designers had access to. This model is nicely detailed and the box states that it can be converted to a 'road racing' or slot car. Features detailed molded chassis and separate front and rear suspension parts, full interior and molded in a beautiful gloss red and clear plastic. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Allwood Brand Covered Wagon, 1/16, 5014

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$48

An excellent, true-scale kit with very good detail. Features four sheets of sharply die-cut plywood, a sheet of die-cut finished 'wood grain' finishing parts, hardwood parts that are completely cut to final shape, dowels as required, sand paper, metal stock as required, metal hardware and a factory-sewn-to-fit canvas wagon cover. Measures just over 18 inches long overall with the tongue; the wagon alone measures about 9 inches long when built. The kit has not been started. Inside, all small parts are still sealed in the factory bag and the plywood parts are complete and not punched out. Includes excellent text and illustrated instructions.

LS Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero, 1/75, 6

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$30

Rare old LS kit from the late 1950s, the golden age of Japanese box art. Classic imagery of Zeros in a pitched air battle with F4Fs. Kit features working tail hook, operating rudder, ailerons and wing flaps, retracting landing gear, opening canopy and optional bomb or drop tank load. Never started. Contents are still factory sealed, but the stand shown on the instructions is not present. I have never seen the stand in this issue, so it may be a mistake on the instructions.

Revell Woodstock 1930 Ford Woody Station Wagon, 1/25, H1324

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$38

Dated 1974. In the 1960/70s Revell issued some amazingly well detailed 1/25 scale automotive models that were exhaustively researched from actual vehicles. The '30 Woody is one of those classic kits. It is molded in light wood tan and chrome with rubber tires and clear window material. The model builds up a rolling chassis just like the actual automobile. Features stock Model A engine, modified engine with custom speed equipment (chromed dual carbs, intake manifold, side valve cover, valve cover and headers), detailed suspension, spoke wheels, full engine compartment, hood that opens like the real car, complete interior and opening doors and tailgate. Hawk Nieuport 17 - Flip-Top Box Issue, 1/48, 706

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Poor

$29

First issue from the early 1950s in the one-piece box. Molded in high gloss yellow and brown. The model has not been started. Complete with instructions, decals and all parts. The earliest issues of this kit did not have decals; this one does. That dates is as late in the first release. In the 1920s through the 1940s Hawk made constant scale 1/48 aircraft kits from wood. In 1946 they added plastic injection molded kits to the line and were possibly the first injection molded kit manufacturer in the USA. When Hawk made an early jump to all-plastic kits they kept the 1/48 scale and created these new one-piece boxes with two color artwork. NOTE: The box is complete but has numerous tears, tape marks, tape stains etc as shown.

Her two sisters did not survive the war. Hikawa Maru served as a Hospital Ship in WWII, survived the war, and is restored today and can be visited in Japan - she is one if not the only existing very early 1930s ocean liner.
