Excellent example of the third issue of this model. Softbox issue is dated 1966 and shares the same art as the second issue, but has a four digit number instead of the 'PC' part number. The actual date of this kit is likely 1968 as the '66 date is the artwork copyright. Very highly detailed and well molded in black, white, clear, chrome plate and with rubber tires. This kit is among my favorites; it is a joy to build and looks fantastic when completed, even with no painting. Features a fully detailed rolling chassis build, just like the real car, , detailed engine & compartment, removable hood, complete interior, opening doors, optional up or down convertible top, opening rumble seat with opening side door, steerable, rotating wheels, convertible top can be removed and the rumble seat opens and closes. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions.

Inventoried with all parts vs. the instructions and it is complete including decals and instructions. Please note: the instructions do not show a windshield nor is it in any of the steps. There is no windshield, but I have listed this kit as complete because the instructions do not mention it. And perhaps that is correct, because there is no windshield on the box art. But you would think it would have had one.

In rare, investment grade condition. This is old hobby shop stock that has never been offered for retail sale until now. 1953 first year issue with the box is in amazing 'near mint+' condition and inside, the kit has never been started. They are still factory sealed in the 'krinkle' bag. Complete with instructions. Molded in deep burgundy plastic. Before the 1950s 'model building' never made the top 10 list of boy's activities. Hobbies were nothing new to America in the 1930s/40s, but they were not mainstream. Shortly after the turn of the century, many dedicated modelers built flying or static airplanes, ship, train, automotive or other subjects. Basic kits existed, but the majority of these models were built from scratch, which demanded a high talent level developed from years of experience. That changed in the early 1950s. The phenomenon of the Revell/Gowland & Gowland 'Highway Pioneers' car kits was a significant force in proving that model building as a hobby could have mass appeal, provided that the kits were easy enough to build and finish. These 1/32 scale vehicles could be built in an hour after dinner and looked much like the real car. The Highway Pioneers series lead to the production of other subjects in plastic and the effect was revolutionary. By the early 1960s, model building was the #1 past time of American boys.
