Planet Models Heinkel He-114 V2 12 Cylinder Engine - Civil D-UGAT, 1/72, 036

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG+

$58

Rare civil version (2nd prototype) with the 640 hp Junkers Jumo 210 12 cylinder engine. Very highly detailed resin cast kit with clear canopy. Decals and paint guide are included for the aircraft shown. The kit has never been started. The parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The He-114 was a two-seat float plane designed in 1935 to replace the He-60 in the role of shipboard reconnaissance. A number of engines were tried in the prototypes and the design frozen by 1938 for production. Although somewhat dated by WWII standards, it did see action for about half the war. Before hostilities began, 12 were sold to Sweden.

Rogers Motor Company Studebaker M-29 C Weasel - Army Personnel and Cargo Carrier, 1/12, 29C

Multimedia Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$115

Rare, large 1/12 scale highly pre-fabricated kit from 1945. Very high quality wood and metal scale Weasel measuring 10.5 inches long when assembled. Features pre-cut and precarved hardwood parts for the main body and deck fittings, completely formed bogie wheels, die-cut fibre bogie chassis, numerous other very thick fibre parts, metal screen and metal stock as needed, complete interior, numerous other die cut parts, completely formed tread links, clear windshield, full decals and much more. Rogers spent a significant amount of time on the 'Photo-Plan' instructions, providing photos for each step and detailed text, full size plans and parts list. The kit has never been started. Inventoried as good as possible and appears complete with all parts, decals and full instructions with plans. There are no part numbers and assembly is by the plans; so inventory is very difficult at best. Rogers was an early producer of miniature gas engines for free-flight and early radio control model kits and often had large adds for these engines in hobby magazines. The full company name on the box is listed as 'Rogers Motor Company Detroit Michigan' and the 'Scale Model Division' is listed as Tawas City, Michigan. Right at the end of WWII, Rogers made a very short journey into kit manufacturing. As you would expect from an engine manufacture, the kits were all true scale, highly prefabricated, had excellent detail and were fairly complicated. Rogers produced at least four kits - the 40MM AA Gun and Carriage (1/16 scale), Army Weasel, LST and an amazing, huge scale Sherman M4 tank with over 780 parts. These kits were likely produced in that order, with the LST being released around late 1945/early 1946. I have seen several of these kits built and they make excellent displays. And thanks to kit builder and collector Fran Fierko for some new and important kit history! Fran was able to track down the son of the designer of the five Rogers kits. Mr. John Hoenle Jr. was a master model builder who received a deferment from the draft in WWI to build recognition models for the military- some of which may still be on display at Wright-patterson AFB in Ohio. Mr. Hoenle is believed to have designed one other early kit, a civilian Chris Craft cabin cruiser. It is unknown if this kit was issued or not. Mr. Hoenle left Rogers to design promo models for Jo-Han, which is famous for their 1950s line of car kits.

Guillows Messerschmitt Messerschmitt Bf-109 - 24 inch Wingspan for Free Flight or R/C, 1/16, 401

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

$34

SALE!! Still factory sealed and in investment-grade condition. From the 1970s. Large scale, well detailed model that can be flown rubber free flight, gas free flight or converted to electric RC using modern small and light equipment. Well detailed with scale plastic wheels, plastic propeller, vacuform engine cowl and spinner, full color decals, colored tissue, die cut balsa parts, rubber motor, plywood firewall and excellent full size plans. Guillow's founder, Paul K. Guillow, was a WWI naval aviator. In 1926 he began producing wooden model airplane kits. His 'Shelf Models' were some of the earlier non-flying models in production. Guillow's grew during the model boom of the 1930s, and when the Depression hit the hardest, Guillow's responded with lower prices and became one of the low price leaders, frequently advertising in Model Airplane News and other leading publications. During the war, like most manufacturers, Guillow's was forced to alternative materials such as cardboard and pine. Guillow's survived the post WWII slump by creating many inexpensive profile flying rubber powered aircraft and gliders in the 1950s (along with North Pacific) which became famous - some are still available today. The stick and tissue lines have been updated with laser cut parts and are still in production as of 2009.

AMT Triceratops Dinosaur, 8737

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

$22

Still factory sealed. From 1993. The scale and size are not given, but the box is 10 x 8.5 x 3 inches. In regards to the scale, Dusty Rhodes emailed me this- 'I understand from several sources the length of an adult Triceratops is supposed to be about thirty feet or so. So I'm thinking, if the box is anything like (most) AMT kits, the kit body length might be around 8 inches orsomething, which would put the kit possibly around 1/48. Now that's significant...Because it opens up all kinds of diorama possibilities with the Aurora armor series, in celebration of those 60's era comic books depictingSgt. Rock or somebody and his U.S. Army squad fighting dinosaurs. ' Fantastic!! Has this type of diorama been done yet?
