  Aurora Model Kits

Aurora SNJ Trainer, 1/48, 80-130

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

$65

Still factory sealed. Aurora of Canada issue dated 1964. This was a good kit for the time, featuring 'good' cockpit detail, pilot and student figures, rotating prop and US Navy decals.

Aurora Focke-Wulf FW-190, 1/48, 30-130

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

$179

Still factory sealed. The box is in 'near mint' condition but the seal has a few small splits on the corners where it shrunk. Aurora of Canada issue dated 1964.

Aurora De Haviland DH-10 Bomber - 'Parents Magazine' Seal Issue, 1/48, 125-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$95

Dated 1957 with classic Jo Kotula box art. This is the edition with the Parent's Magazine approval seal on the box and the instructions. Box is in excellent condition with like new color and gloss, four solid corners and no tape or price tags. Flaws include a ding at the top left corner and very, very light discoloration. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Even includes the original tissue packing paper.

Aurora Albatross D-3 - (Albatros DIII), 1/48, 104-69

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$59

Rare. Please note, this is a 'Famous Fighters' logo, first box art issue kit WITHOUT the Parents' Magazine Logo and a 69 cent price extension. This is the first time I have seen a FF original art version with no PM logo with a 69 cent price extension. Just when you think you have Aurora figured out, another variation comes along! That would make this the true third issue of this kit - only three issues have the 69 cent extension and are from 1956 and 1957. This kit has not been factory overstamped to 79 and still shows 69 on both sides The kit is molded in gloss dark green and black. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. The decals are 'excellent' and the instructions are near mint. Please NOTE that the box only grades 'good.' The box has good color, is very solid (including all four corners) and has no fading but there is the obvious short litho tear under the logo on the box top. Additionally, there is general wear as shown and a short piece of masking tape on each of the two long sides.

Aurora 12 O'Clock High P-51 Mustang, 1/48, 345-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$145

Rare limited issue. Hardbox is dated 1965. Issued as a promotion with the famous TV show "12 O'Clock High," which centered on the exploits of USAAF B-17s flying over Hitler's Germany. Has many working features: detailed engine with removable cowling, full cockpit and retractable landing gear. Molded in gloss olive drab and clear. The kit has no assembly, but NOTE: the interior parts are painted with one thin coat of zinc chromate green. There is no other painting. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. Other kits in this rare series include the B-17 Bomber Formation (3 kits with a special stand and battle-damaged decals), P-38 Lighting, ME-109 (Bf-109), P-47, B-25, B-26 and Fw-190.

Aurora Breguet 14, 1/48, 141-98

$95

First issue dated 1963 with a 98 cent price extension and artwork by Jo Kotula. Aurora F7U Cutlass Navy Jet Fighter, 1/70, 496-50

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$54

1961 hardbox issue with fantastic box art by jo Kotula. Includes decals for F7U-1 NATC aircraft. Molded in gloss medium gray and clear, with full landing gear and a display stand. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora F6F Hellcat, 1/43, 40-130

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

$149

Still factory sealed but the seal has split on the left short side. Aurora of Canada issue. The factory-applied stickers have a '130' price suffix, but the box was originally '100' priced. Dated 1964 with fantastic Mort Kunstler artwork.

Aurora Spitfire Famous Fighters of all Nations First Issue, 1/48, 20-59

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$349

Rare first issue that is 100% correct. The box has excellent color and gloss, four solid original corners (no repairs), no fading or stains, no missing litho or tears, no tags or tag marks and no tape or tape marks (other than the factory sealing tape of course). Flaws include very light general wear as shown and moderate corner wear at the lower left corner. This first issue has minimal surface detail and is molded in the correct non-metallic medium blue and clear plastic. It also has the correct rectangle-based clear display stand and the instructions match this perfectly. (The second and all later issues had greatly increased rivet detail and were molded in a metallic blue plastic) The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The decals are flat and in amazing 'near mint' condition with only the slightest yellowing. The instructions are 'near mint+' with slight yellowing being the only flaw. Even the original factory packing tissue is present.

Aurora Bristol F2B Brisfit - (F.2B), 1/48, 113-98

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$74

1957 first issue in fantastic 'Excellent++' condition. The box has perfect color and gloss and four solid corners. The only flaws are very light and isolated age foxing and light wear. This issue has dramatic Jo Kotula artwork and is molded in the correct gloss olive green and black. Inside, the kit has never been started. It still includes the factory packing tissue. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Aurora Martin B-26 Marauder, 1/46, 371-259

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

$225

Very rare first issue from the early 1950s. When Aurora moved to the West Hempstead plant, they planned a series of very large scale bombers. All kits released up to this time had been small. Aurora's instincts were correct, and the B-26, B-25 and B-29 were a big sales success. This box art was done by Jim Cox and was only used for about one year, making it very rare. The kit has never been started and is inventoried 100% complete with the original tissue paper, all parts, large clear stand, instructions and decals.

Aurora Cutty Sark Clipper Ship, 1/260, 432-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

$39

Excellent builder kit. Nicely molded, smaller scale full-hull kit. Kit features molded rat lines, detailed deck and fittings, display stand and rigging instructions. Molded in green, wood tan and black. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts including flag sheet and instructions. NOTE: the smallest yard has 1/3 of the tip broken off and that tip is missing.

Aurora Convair VR XFY-1 Pogo, 1/48, 60

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$155

1955 hardbox design. Please note the early Aurora rectangular logo, which was used from about 1953 to 1955. However, the factory has blacked out all the price extensions, so this one may be from around 1957/58. Rare, large scale model features working counter-rotating props and is molded in gloss silver and clear. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Aurora Cutty Sark Clipper Ship, 1/260, 432-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Fair

$45

Excellent builder kit. Nicely molded, smaller scale full-hull kit. Kit features molded rat lines, detailed deck and fittings, display stand and rigging instructions. Molded in green, wood tan and black. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts including flag sheet and instructions. NOTE: the smallest yard has 1/3 of the tip broken off and that tip is missing.

Aurora British Churchill Tank, 1/48, 327

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

$95

Still factory sealed. 1972 Big A softbox issue is in investment-grade condition. Features elevating gun, rotating turret, figures, operating treads and bogies and battlefield display stand.

Aurora Ryan X-13 Vertijet With Trailer And Launcher, 1/48, 376-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$425

Old hobby shop stock that has never been up for retail sale. Very rare kit dated 1957; first and only issue. Very nice, large-scale model for that time with a fully operational mobile operations trailer. The aircraft is molded in gloss silver & clear while the trailer/launcher is bright yellow. The kit has never been started. When you open the box, it is exactly as it left the factory down to the packing tissue paper. The silver parts (aircraft) are still in the factory sealed bag. The yellow parts and clear canopy were never factory sealed and are inventoried complete. Includes 'excellent' condition decals and instructions. The box grades 'very good' which is rare for this kit. The red color is in unusually good shape, which is rare; as you may know, it usually ages poorly. The colors are bright and vibrant, all four corners are solid with no repairs, there is no fading, no tape, no price tags and no stains. Flaws include edge wear as shown and 3 small litho chips as well as creases visible at the lower left corner and center right. Although not perfect, it is one of the best I have seen.

Aurora Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, 1/270, 494-49

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$145

Very rare and even rarer in this condition. First issue and with the one-year only rectangular logo. Dramatic Jo Kotula box art with 1956 date. The box is the finest I have seen. It has like-new color and gloss, four solid corners, no repairs, no tape or tape marks, no tags or tag marks, no fading, and no tear or missing litho. The only flaws are the light edge and corner wear shown at the bottom right and other (even lighter) shelf wear that probably not even visible in the photo. Molded in correct silver and clear with correct rectangular clear stand. A nice kit for that time, it features full centerline landing gear and outrigger struts and gear doors as well as clear cockpit canopy, outboard slipper fuel tanks, display stand and decals. It has the correct early rectangle-base clear Aurora stand, which is also shown on the instructions. Molded in the correct gloss silver and clear. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Instructions are mint and the decals are 'near mint.' It is interesting to note that this is not a reissue of the Comet molds - the two models are not even close to the same size or scale. This kit is original to Aurora, was made before Aurora acquired the Comet molds and also varies in a great many details. It appears that Aurora never even re-issued the Comet B-52, probably because they had a superior model already in the same low price range.

Aurora Consolidated PBY-5A Catalina, 1/74, 374-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$129

1962 issue with colorful pre-war high-visibility paint in the artwork. Please note that this is the first issue of this box art because of the 'Famous Fighters' in the border of the Aurora logo. Box is in 'very good++' condition with nice color and gloss, four solid corners and no sign of price tags or tape. There is light general wear as shown. Kit features retracting pontoons and rotating props. This version has the desirable large clear two-piece 'World' triangle-base stand. Molded in gloss silver and clear. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Aurora 12 O'Clock High P-38 Lightning, 1/48, 346-130

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$185

Very rare first and only hardbox issue from the tie-in promotion with Twentieth Century Fox Televisions smash hit "12 O'Clock High." Dated 1965. Some of the most valuable models are linked to TV or movie promotions and the "12 O'Clock High" series from Aurora is no exception. This example has like-new color and gloss, four solid corners, no tape, tags or tears and zero fading. The only flaws are very slight foxing and very slight general corner wear. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Other kits in the series included the B-17, P-51, Me-109 and FW-190.

Aurora USS Skipjack Submarine Phota-Scope Issue, 1/228, 614-180

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

$125

Rare. 1970 issue featuring the Phota-Scope. In place of the nuclear reactor, Aurora put a tube that has a magnifying lens at the top and a film transparency of a submarine interior at the bottom. So when you lift the hatch, you looked through the magnifier to see the inside of the sub. It was an interesting idea, and Aurora extended Phota-scope to some tank kits around the same time. The kit has never been started. Inventoried with all parts, magnifying lens and tube, phota-scope picture, decals and correct instructions present. The box looks much better than the 'good' rating but is graded as such because there is a closed tear in the box top at the sail of the sub.
