Very well detailed large 1/16 kit from 1949. Features plastic wheels, grill, headlamps, spotlight, running lights and other accessories and wooden main parts. Although all of Hudson's 1/16 kits have excellent detail, this one has even more detail than usual thanks to Hudson's engineers having access to the actual car owned by Mr. James Melton. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes instructions. As a note, few people even knew that International Harvester even made a passenger car. Not many were produced and very, very few are in existence. Jim Melton's car, the car examined by Hudson engineers, was likely given to him as a promotion as he was a popular opera singer and the star of International Harvester's radio show 'Harvest of the Stars'. The car was very solidly built to last and reportedly gave excellent service. Why IH did not pursue production is not known. Hudson Miniatures created a very popular line of automobile kits in a constant 1/16 scale shortly after WWII. The kits sold very well...so well that you could argue that Gowland & Gowland borrowed Hudson's subject matter for their ground-breaking 'Highway Pioneers.' The Hudson Miniatures 'Old Timers' even spawned a line of imitators, with Fador's 'Smallster' being one of the better in quality. Sales did drop on the appearance and popularity of the much smaller (and less accurate) Gowland/Revell 'Highway Pioneers' in 1951. When the all-injection molded Gowland kits proved not to be a passing fad, Hudson quickly planned and released his own all-plastic, small-scale competition called 'Lil' Old Timers Quickie Kits.' The kits were of excellent quality, but it was too little too late. Additionally, sales of the excellent wooden kits faltered further in the next few years with the introduction of accurate, 1/24 and 1/32 all-plastic cars in the mid 1950s. This forced Hudson to discontinue the wood kits and the plastic line was sold to Revell and subsequently re-released. Today, these excellent, big 1/16 kits are often the only model available of these early automobiles. In the mid 1960s Aurora thought so highly of Hudson Miniatures that they purchased the wood kit assets and released a very small number of these in all-plastic models.

Special Edition limited release. Beautifully detailed kit of one of the classic airliners of the 1930s. The kit has never been started. NOTE: missing four (of eight) exhaust pipes; easily made from wire as they are simple tubes with 2 slight bends. It has been inventoried with all other parts and includes decals and instructions. Imperial Airways equipped these aircraft with deluxe interiors and provided full service. Customers were thoroughly pampered and had superb views of the ground from only a few thousand feet.

This issue is from the late 1960s through the early 1970s. Features traditional wood/tissue construction, quality printwood and strip wood, wood stock as required, fully formed wheels, thrust button, prop, rubber motor, covering tissue and detailed full size plans/building instructions. Never started and complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

PS-1 (simple satellite number one) broadcast for 92 days on 20.005 and 40.002 Mhz. Nicely molded with all fine recessed panel line detail - I believe it is the ex-Apex kit.

Rare and large 1/16 scale museum quality kit. The four aircraft in this series (Wright Flyer, Fokker DR-1, Sopwith Camel and SE-5 Scout) are widely considered to be the finest model aircraft ever produced. This kit duplicates the world's first controllable powered aircraft using many of the original material in a near perfect representation of the inner structure of the aircraft. There are 303 parts made from die-cut plywood, Japanese cypress, cast soft metal, copper, rubber, brass, injection molded plastic and still other materials. Unlike the other three kits, this model can have the interior framework covered as the real aircraft or it can remain uncovered. Includes a Wright Brother pilot and display stand. The wingspan is 765mm (over 30 inches) when assembled. The engineering is world-class right down to the assembly plans. This kit has never been started. Nearly all parts are still in still in the factory sealed bags; the injection molded parts are the only ones not sealed and they have been inventoried complete. This kit was packed very carefully from the factory and all special internal boxes and inserts are included and in mint condition. Complete with instructions and roll-out plans. Pocher made the finest automobile models ever created. The detail and working parts on these long out-of-production, big 1/8 scale kits is amazing. It includes 1954 parts of plastic, brass, steel, leather, iron, rubber, copper and many other material. Working features include operating steering, working suspension, lights that operate from the dashboard, doors that open and close with operating door latches and handles, starting handle that operates the crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, V-belts, Fan, dynamo, etc in the engine. The convertible top operates - and much, more more. Recommended for experienced modelers only. NOTE: this kit has very minor and neat assembly to two small engine parts - the back of the generator is glued to the generator casing. There is no other assembly and zero painting. Roughly 80% of the parts are still sealed in the factory bags. The few bags that were opened have been inventoried complete. With decals and instructions. This is the desirable early version with the most realistic wheel construction. Each wheel is built just like a real spoke wheel with individual spokes and well over 100 parts.
