Inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. This is one of two known box issues for the Craftmaster Scharnhorst. This one has black side panels and S3-129 as the kit number.

Cleveland Supermarine Spitfire - 27.6 Inch Wingspan Flying Model Airplane Kit, 1/16, SF-73

Vaccuform Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Sold

This is a late 1930s/early 1940s 'Deluxe Edition' of this Cleveland SF ('Scale Flying') model in museum scale of 1/16. This exact model is in fine condition with a 'Good' condition box, all of the original internal cardboard presentation material, glass bottles of liquids (glue and dope) and is never started and complete. All Cleveland kits were exceptionally complete and this one is no exception. Because it is the deluxe version, it comes with a set of four large glass bottles of factory fluids - paint/dope and glue - still factory sealed in brown paper and factory tape, very high quality balsa printwood and pre-cut strip wood, balsa blocks, other wood and metal stock as required, completely finished wheels, black fiber propeller blades, a small paper envelope with smaller parts inside, full color insignia sheets, clear material for the canopy and covering material. Includes Cleveland's highest quality plans. Never started and it has been inventoried 100% complete with all parts and instructions. The Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. In 1909 Bleriot's English Channel flight caused a surge in aviation and model aircraft around the globe. Several companies were ideally positioned to take advantage of the aviation craze. In the USA, Wading River Manufacturing Co. (1909), White Aeroplane (1911), Ideal Model Aeroplane (1911), Broadfield Model Aeroplanes (1919) were among these pioneers, offering everything from plans and parts to complete kits and ARF models. Lindbergh's 1927 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean caused an even bigger world-wide phenomenon called 'The Aviation Craze' that extended up to the start of World War II. Many companies such as Megow, Guillow's and others started right around the time of Lindbergh's flight. Some of these models flew and flew well, but they all had one thing in common - were generally not accurate scale representations. In 1929, a youngster named Ed Packard had a very advanced dream to produce incredibly accurate, true scale models that flew perfectly. This radical idea established the world's longest operating single-owner model airplane supply business, called Cleveland Model and Supply Company. To this day, Cleveland models are treasured as the most accurate flying scale models produced. The fact that Mr. Packard started and successfully grew this business during The Great Depression is a testament to his ideals and business skill. I highly suggest the excellent book called 'Aviations great Recruiter, Cleveland's Ed Packard' by H.L. (Herm) Schreiner. It is an excellent history of the man, his company and the times of the Golden Age of Model Aviation.

Otherwise complete with all other parts and paperwork. The Cleveland Model and Supply Company played a pivotal role in the development of true scale models. Airfix B-17G Flying Fortress - Craftmaster Issue, 1/72, 1-129

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Sold

Early issue from the 1960s. This is the hardbox in the 'long box' format, perhaps the hardest to find of the three variants. The dramatic Craftmaster artwork shows 'A Bit O'Lace' just past the target and the #2 engine in flames with a feathered propeller. Features many moving parts: turrets rotate and guns elevate, landing gear retracts/extends, wheels and propellers turn, all control surfaces move and more. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

UPC Long Tom And Tractor - (Long Tom 155mm Gun And High Speed Tractor ex Revell ex Life-Like), 1/40, 2155-250

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

Sold

A very rare model from the original 1950s Revell "S" issue molds. Highly detailed and includes both kits - the High Speed Tractor and the Long Tom 155mm gun. Has many working features - the tractor has movable tracks and working bogies, rotating and elevating machine gun, driver and interior details. The gun can be stowed for transport with the M-4 and all extra gear to do this correctly is supplied. The Long Tom features and elevating barrel, moving limbers and detailed mechanism. Never started and inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. UPC stood for Universal Powermaster Corporation which was based out of New York City, NY. UPC did not cut their own molds, but bought kits already molded from other manufacturers and re-boxed the kits in the USA. Scott Eidson, the famous artist best known for his artwork with Revell, also did UPC box art in the 1960s. All UPC production ended in the 1970s. These molds must have had a very interesting history. The molds were cut in 1955 or 1956, either at Adams or by one of Revell's contractors. It appeared to be part of the Adams/Revell 1/40 line but Adams never issued the kit. The famous HO model train manufacturer Athearn purchased the Adams molds and ended up with the jeep. Ahtearn used the name SNAP for all plastic kit releases and slightly modified the molds by adding their name & logo to a part (or two) of each kit. Then UPC (Universal Power Master) either leased or purchased (probably the former) the Adams molds from SNAP in the 1960s. While most UPC kits say 'Made in Japan' the ex-Adams models do not and say 'Made in USA'. Things get even more interesting with the Life-Like issue. How Life-Like came across the molds is unfortunately unknown but it may have been in a bulk purchase of molds from Athearn since there were in the same general part of the country. This is simply conjecture, however.

Aurora Aero Commander 1121 Jet Commander, 1/72, 85-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Sold

1968 issue hardbox issue and a nice kit for that time. Features recessed panel lines, full interior with rear bulkhead, couch, chairs and console, cockpit with chairs, instrument panel, control yokes, forward bulkhead and clear windows. Includes optional position landing gear and colorful decals. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried and includes all parts, decals and instructions. The Jet Commander was the jet-powered follow-on to the famous Aero Commander twin private aircraft. But shortly after 1121 delivery began in 1965, Rockwell bought Aero Commander. The 1121 was competition for the Rockwell Sabreliner business jet in the same class, so Rockwell sold the Jet Commander to IAI. Famous nicknames assigned to the early 1121s included the familiar 'ground pounder', 'lead sled' and more unique 'Jet Commode'. Initial releases under IAI were called the 1123. Improvements to the 1123 design lead to the IAI 1124 Westwind powered by Garrett 731 fan engines. I won't recount here all of the nicknames for the IAI Jet Commanders...but the most printable include "Bagel Bomber" and "Yom Kippur Clipper." For years legend has it that these molds were lost and/or destroyed in a train wreck; that has moved from legend to fact as those reports have been confirmed. Monogram bought Aurora's molds and was transporting them to the Monogram factory when the accident happened.

Monogram Boeing B-52 Stratofortress With Jet Sound, 1/72, PA215

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good-

Sold

First issue dated 1968 of this legendary kit that features realistic Jet Sound. Includes the rare yellow cardboard with clear cello window in very good condition; this was originally served as the internal seal. It was usually thrown away when the kit was opened, but the original owner saved it. Well detailed with 207 parts and features crew of three and cockpit, elevating and traversing rear turret, opening and closing bomb bay doors, operating wing flaps, operating spoilers, optional position entry hatch and landing gear, and optional parts to display one nacelle open to show the jet engine. The instructions, B-52 Book and decals are present and in 'very good' condition. The kit has never been started. The original factory tissue packing paper is still present and the plastic parts have been inventoried complete with all paperwork and decals. Includes the electric motor, brass battery contacts but NOTE: Missing two brass eyelets. Otherwise complete. The box displays better than the 'good-' grade but I have graded it as such because there are two large tape pulls (missing litho) on the box, one on each short side. There are also several very small closed holes on the box top; they are too small to show up on the photo.
