Monogram AC-47 'Spooky' Gunship Puff the Magic Dragon Blue Box, 1/90, PA203-130

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

$44

Still mint in the factory seal. This is an original issue dated 1966/1967 and not the later 1990s reproduction. Well detailed for that time and is from the excellent original molds from the C-47 with Paratroopers "Four Star" kit- here modified for Vietnam Gunship Duty.

Aurora Convair 880 SuperJet TWA, 1/103, 384-250

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Mint

$225

Still factory sealed. Dated 1961. The Convair 880 and it's near sister 990 were very high performance airliners. Unfortunately they did not find favor with commercial operators. Only 65 880s were produced from 1959 to 1962. The aircraft was designed to be smaller and faster than the DC-8 and 707 - this market did not develop, however, and if it did it could have been served with less expensive designs. The 990 was a larger and faster (mach .91) airliner, but it failed to meet it's range criteria for east to west crossings of the USA. As a result, only 37 were made. Interestingly enough, several 990s continued to be operated by private owners and NASA operated two 990s for decades after the last 990 was phased out of commercial service.

Comet Aeronca Sedan Struct-O-Speed Deluxe Issue, 2301-100

Wood Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$38

Deluxe version; please read carefully. 1960s issue with a 13.25 inch wingspan. Comet would advertise that the Struct-O-Speed series 'Puts Itself Together...That Quick!' on the box top, and it was not a completely idle boast. This exactly model is highly prefabricated and more along the lines of a Speedee-Bilt than a Comet kit. Features a completely machine formed and finished wing with airfoil (like the Monofoil wing), other factory carved parts, die-cut and factory painted balsa sheet parts, a beautiful scale plastic full cowl, plastic prop and thrust bushing, fully formed wire landing gear and prop shaft/rubber hook, finished wheels, rubber motor, complete plans with instructions and even color insignia. Never started and complete. Comet was a famous manufacturer of stick and tissue flying and static models. In the 1930s Great Depression, they lead the low-priced kit revolution with the "Dime Scale" kits and famous advertisements in Model Airplane News magazine and others. Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg. Goldberg was a highly accomplished modeler with articles in Model Airplane News and famous designs that won him several National level competitions in the 1930s and beyond. (Carl Goldberg went on to found his own company and produced well designed and popular free-flight and RC aircraft). Comet survived the post World War economic slump and continued kit production until they were bought out by long-time competitor Guillow's in 1998.

Includes paratrooper, airline steward figure and two pilots. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. $29

Long out-of-production and from the early to mid 1970s. From ex-Pyro molds. Designed from the original blueprints furnished by the American President Lines. Has markings for the Ocean Liners SS President Wilson or SS President Cleveland. These fine ships sailed to exotic Pacific ports and did at least one Round-The-World Cruise each year. At the time the kit was made, they were the only two ocean liners flying the American flag. This kit has not been started. NOTE: missing one small lifeboat. One lifeboat has two broken davits (molded with the part) but both parts are included and an easy fix. Aurora Boeing B-29 Superfortress, 1/76, 372-249

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc++

$175

Rare 1960s issue retaining the same artwork as the 1956 issue. This is likely the 4th issue. I believe the 3rd issue is almost identical but has "Famous Fighters" in the oval logo. That would date this kit as 1963 and up till the 'Big A' box issue. Note the square 'Northern Lights' logo has been replaced with the Aurora sunburst oval logo. This kit has arguably the most dramatic and fanciful B-29 artwork from the 'Golden Era' of modeling. The box is in excellent condition. There are no split corner and no repairs. Responding to market information that boys wanted larger kits, Aurora introduced the B-26 followed by the B-29 and B-25, all of which sold well for many years. Missing stand. Never started. Otherwise complete with all parts, decals and instructions.

Comet reached it's peak in the 1930s when they acquired the services of Carl Goldberg.
