In 1933 Post tested a gyroscope automatic pilot and radio direction finder in another record flight lasting 7 days, 18 hours and 45 minutes. This aircraft is now in the Smithsonian Museum. Vegas did see military service, with a few operated by the RAAF, Spanish Republic Air Force, and USAAC. (This kit does not include military decals.) Aurora North American F-86D Sabre Jet, 1/48, 77-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$36

Hardbox issue dated 1960 with dramatic Jo Kotula box artwork. This would be a mid-1960s issue since it has no 'Famous Fighters' in the oval and the price extension is 130. The model is from the modified Brooklyn U-Ma-Kit molds; the original 1950s release had no landing gear, ordinance or drop tanks but this issue does. Molded in sliver and clear with the famous Aurora clear triangle-world map stand. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried and all plastic parts and instructions are present. NOTE: missing decals.

Aurora Breguet 14, 1/48, 141-100

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$75

Dated 1963 with artwork by Jo Kotula. This actual example is probably from the mid 1960s judging from the '100' price extension. Molded in gloss green and black. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Aurora N-156 Freedom Fighter (F-5), 1/48, 140-130

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: NM+

$89

Dated 1962 and features fantastic Jo Kotula box artwork; however, from the logo and price extension, this example is from the mid 1960s. The box is in amazing 'near mint+' condition with very light wear (to the corners and edges) as the only significant flaws. This kit is a 'very good' representation of the rare 'Freedom Fighter' prototype N-156. It developed into the F-5, which was widely exported and saw service in over 30 countries. Only three of the N-156 prototypes were built. The design centered around two GE J85 turbojets which originally powered the ADM-20 Quail decoy carried by the B-52 fleet. Initially there seemed to be little demand until President Kennedy's Military Assistance Program required a low-cost fighter that could be provided to US Allies. The N-156 was easily the top choice. It was renamed the F-5 and the rest is history - it became one of the most widely used fighter/bombers in post-WWII history and is still in service in some air forces. Kit includes pilot, cockpit and instrument panel, three drop tanks and early AIM-9 Sidewinder Air-to-Air Missiles. Molded in white and clear. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present.

Aurora Cessna 310, 1/62, 283-50

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

$185

Rare issue dated 1963 and from ex-Comet molds. Neatly molded with all recessed panel lines, clear side and front windows, tip tanks, rotating propellers, display stand and full pinstripe decals. The kit has never been started. Inventoried 100% complete including decals and instructions. Aurora had started a line of inexpensive 29 cent kits in about 1957. The line was a success, and it was expanded. The line grew again when Aurora purchased the Comet molds, as most of Comet's line was very small scale kits, many of them civil aircraft like this one. It appears that Aurora was encouraged by the sale of the ex-Comet civil aircraft, as it expanded the line with it's own molds in the early 1960s.

Aurora-KB Breguet 14 Collectors Edition, 1/48, 1141-200

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$69

1972 issue of this still-popular model. Features fair cockpit detail, Vickers and Lewis machine guns, two ground crew, US Air Service markings and paint guide, rigging instructions and a Battle Terrain Base. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions.

Tamiya US Army Heavy Field Piece M2 155mm Long Tom Gun, 1/21, DT103-450

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good+

$319

Legendary and rare. This early, large-scale Tamiya kit is an amazing operating model, even by modern standards. Well detailed and features a complex gun elevating system that works by turning the proper hand wheel which then functions through a series of metal pinion gears, functional elevation pistons, working transversing gear through turning the correct hand wheel (through metal pinion gears also), opening breech, movable trailing arms for travel or firing position, removable wheel towing set with realistic suspension that you build up one leaf sprint at a time and much more. This model does everything but launch a projectile; there is a inner metal barrel and some other (rubber banded moving) parts I do not understand, so it may well fire something. The model is molded in dark olive drab, light gray, with rubber tires and with a large number of metal parts. The kit has never been started. Inside it is exactly as it left the factory, with all parts factory sealed in clear bags with Tamiya 155mm M2 Gun paper headers. The box has very good color and gloss, is intact, complete and has four solid corners but has general wear as shown.
