In the late 1940s/early 1950s there was a revolution in model railroading: high quality kits became available for the first time. Before this, there were few standard gauges and most railroads were scratch built to any gauge the collector desired. This kit is from one of the most respected and detailed kit lines, Mantua Metal. These kits build very realistic models because most parts that are metal on the real box car are metal in the kit. It comes with predecorated sides for Gulf (old 1950 round logo). The level of detail is very fine and impressive. Kit has not been started and is complete with all parts and instructions. This kit comes with metal Mantua couplers and metal trucks with brass wheels. These make great stand alone models or high-quality rolling stock for your line. Some modeling skills recommended.
