Incredible Craftmaster artwork from the 1960s. Hardbox is in excellent condition with as-new color and gloss and four solid corners; light creasing and general light wear are the flaws. A merchant ship is sinking on the left and the crew is in lifeboats in the foreground on lower side panel. The Sunderland is preparing to rescue them, while the other Sunderland depth-charges the U-boat responsible for the sinking. Kit features beaching gear, rotating turrets with elevating guns, movable control surfaces, external bomb load and rotating props. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions. Please NOTE that two of the props have one broken blade each. They are clean breakes at the hub and the blades are included. The Sunderland's 21-year record with the RAF has made it a legend. Derived from the Empire Class Flying Boat Airliners, Sunderland IIIs had a top speed of 210 mph and an endurance of 12 hours. These qualities made the Sunderland a superb platform for North Sea and North Atlantic patrols, ASW and SAR. Crews usually loved the airplane; its large size afforded many airborne comforts that bomber or fighter crews could only dream of, such as bunk, a head and an area for food preparation.
