Operation Heat Rise was named such because higher than usual ram intake air temperatures were used during this run from LA-NY-LA which won the Bendix Trophy and the Mackay Trophy in 1962. The danger was the aluminum honeycomb bonded skin melting during the run, as this was the primary limitation. Firefly won the Bleriot Trophy with a flight from Carswell to Paris in 3 hours and 18 minutes. Never started. Factory sealed bag or inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
