1/72 31-195 Greenbank Ryan M-1 Mailplane - (Hisso or J-4B) Colorado Airways or Pacific Air Transport - Bagged

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Very rare kit and the only model ever made of this historic subject. Includes optional parts to build one of two versions, the Hisso or J-4b powered. Complete injection molded kit in two colors with rubber wheels, full decals for US Mail-Colorado Airways or Pacific Air Transport Air Mail, instructions and painting guide. NOTE: this kit has very minor and 'professional' assembly to the cowl halves. There is no other assembly. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. The M-1 holds two very special places in American Aviation History. First, it is the first production monoplane and played a key role in early airmail. In the 1920s, Government contracts for flying airmail on a $/mile basis was about the only thing keeping commercial aviation alive and growing. In 1926, the M-1 was the first aircraft to fly with PAT, Pacific Air Transport. PAT linked Seattle to LA with mail contracts. The other unique item is that this was the Ryan NYPs (Lindbergh's aircraft) father. When Lindy visited Ryan in 1927, he flew the M-1. He requested an airplane that was similar but larger - thus the NYP was born and aviation history was made.
