Very nicely molded and detailed with a large photoetched brass sheet of details and film instruments. The R-10 was a modern design in 1936 when the first prototype flew. However, by the time it saw combat in 1941 it was outdated and suffered heavy losses. As a result, many were used as light night bombers. By 1943 all of the R-10s had been withdrawn from service; however, Finish pilots claimed two R-10s shot down in 1944. The R-10 saw much more success in a civil role. Over 60 aircraft were withdrawn from Soviet Air Force service in 1940 and were used as mail carriers by Aeroflot. These also had three passenger seats and in civil use they were designated PS-5.
