A large and well detailed model from the original 1950s molds. This type 4 logo 'Porcupine' features beaching gear, rotating turrets with elevating guns, movable control surfaces, external bomb load, rotating propellers and more. Never started and the parts are still in the internal factory sealed bags and includes decals and instructions. The Sunderland's 21-year record with the RAF has made it a legend. Derived from the Empire Class Flying Boat Airliners, Sunderland IIIs had a top speed of 210 mph and an endurance of 12 hours. These qualities made the Sunderland a superb platform for North Sea and North Atlantic patrols, ASW and SAR. Crews usually loved the airplane; its large size afforded many airborne comforts that bomber or fighter crews could only dream of, such as bunk, a head and an area for food preparation.
