Unicraft 1/72 Kocherigin OPB - Soviet WWII Dive Bomber plastic model kit

1/72 Unicraft Kocherigin OPB - Soviet WWII Dive Bomber

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed NM

Still factory tape sealed and very rare. Nicely detailed, limited-run resin kit. OPB stands for for Odnomotornyj Pikirujuschij Bombardirovschik or single-engine dive bomber. It was designed by S.A.Kocherigin. The project started in 1938. The aircraft was finished in 1941, but the intended M-90 powerplant was not ready. The team began to modify the airframe for the readily available M-82A engine, but in the start of 1942 project was canceled and design bureau was disbanded. This low-wing monoplane with an inverse gull wing would have carried a single 500kg bomb inside the fuselage. When the bong was dropped, it would swing clear of the propeller arc on a parallelogram support.
