Type three logo issue from the 1960s. Features movable control surfaces, opened or closed bomb bay with bombs, full crew and optional position undercarriage. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Hampdens, along with Whitley and Wellingtons, formed the RAF's Heavy Bomber force at the outbreak of WWII. Dusty Rhodes provided more information on the box art aircraft - Hampden AE240 took off from RAF Scampton at 1443 hours on the 12th February 1942, detailed to attack the German battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau in the English Channel. Nothing was heard from the aircraft after take off and the aircraft and crew disappeared without trace. The Squadron lost 4 aircraft on this mission.
