Revell 1/96 Pedro Nunes - 19th Century Portuguese Naval Ship, H399-1000 plastic model kit

1/96 H399-1000 Revell Pedro Nunes - 19th Century Portuguese Naval Ship

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good

Very Rare. Dated 1967 and features a factory-painted copper hull (below the waterline) with the paint in amazing 'near mint' condition. Very highly detailed kit with lifeboats and davits, removable cargo hatches and detailed holds, preformed ratlines and deadeyes, all rigging material and standing/running rigging instructions, crew of 20 action figures, movable rudder, blocks, metal chains and a highly detailed deck with bilge pump, hand winches, anchors, fire buckets, pumps, life preservers and more. The kit has never been started. All small parts are still in the internal factory sealed bag; only the hull was never factory sealed. Includes rigging materials (still sealed), decals, flags and full instructions. NOTE: the decals have been exposed to moisture. The sheet is flat and the transfers are 90% complete but not usable. Please see the two articles on this website for how to restore decals such as these. The unusual subject of this model is a Portuguese Navy training vessel from the late 1890s. When the age of steam made sailing ships less desirable, the famous Thermopylae (known for her races with the Cutty Sark) was sold to the Portuguese Navy and modified to became the Pedro Nunes.
