Museum quality craftsman kit features hardwood, kiln-dried, precarved hull, extensive high quality cast Britannia and brass fittings, photoetched brass details and other hardwood and metal parts as required. Includes very detailed full size plans and instructions. The kit has never been started. Inside, all of the parts are still sealed in the factory clear bags. Includes all paperwork. The Victory Ships were designed to replace the Liberty ships of WWII. 531 were ultimately built. They were larger, more powerful, faster, longer ranged and made their appearance in 1944. Steaming at 15 to 17 knots allowed them to be much more effective at evading U-boats. They were so successful that they became the basis of the US Merchant Marine after the war.
