Geobra 1/50 Vanguard Rocket With Satellite - (ex Renwal), 401 plastic model kit

1/50 401 Geobra Vanguard Rocket With Satellite - (ex Renwal)

Cardstock Paper Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG++

Extremely rare model from the late 1950s. The scale is commonly given as 1/48, but the instructions state it is 1/50 scale. Large 18" high kit features removable panels and full interior detail with rocket engines, fuel pumps, extensive piping detail from tanks to engines, helium oxygen and nitric acid tanks, instrument section and satellite with folding antennas. Launching stand and a ground crew of two are included. The model is correctly molded in silver plastic. It has not been started. Inventoried 100% complete including all parts, decals and instructions. Please NOTE: at one point, the decal where partially stuck to the instructions. Someone pulled them off; so there is a tear on the decal sheet and also on the instructions. Please note that this kit must be shipped insured. Geobra is a German company dating back to 1876; they are famous today for the Playmobil figures. In the late 1950s they started a line of plastic kits. It included this big scale Vanguard, a 1/50 scale V-2 with Launcher, two gliders and seven modern jet fighters that flew via catapult launch. Also listed is a General Patton tank than bears more than a passing resemblance to the Renwal issue. History usually says that Geobra originally cut the molds for the 1/50 Vanguard, then Renwal reissued it. It would be interesting to know if it and the Patton are the other way around.
