1/72 Mach 2 Blohm und Voss Bv-142 - Luftwaffe Patrol and Special Transport Aircraft

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc

Still factory sealed. The Bv-141 was the land-based version of the Ha-139. It was an attractive, all metal inverted gull wing aircraft. Initially, this was a civil floatplane and between 1937 and 1939, Deutsche Luft Hansa flew them on trans-Atlantic routes, mainly between Bathurst, Gambia and Natal, Brazil. They were catapult-launched from a tender ship (such as the Friesenland) and were able to transport 500kg of mail up to 5,000 km. Four land-based prototypes were built by Blohm & Voss. All had fully retractable main and tail wheel landing gear, defensive armament and other military necessities. V-1 and V-2 saw action from the late 1940s forward as part of the Luftwaffe's second surveillance Group. This unit was assigned to the operations staff of Luftflotte III in France. The served until 1942. Future plans were to equip V1 and V2 with the Henschel GT 1200C guided torpedo, but this was canceled. V3 and V4 had a more interesting history, being used as transport aircraft for the occupation of Denmark and in the Norway campaign with the KGr.z.b.V. 105 (Special combat team). Both aircraft could transport 30 fully equipped soldiers over 2,490 miles. The ultimate fate of V3 and V4 is unknown. The model kit features recessed panel lines, complete landing gear and is molded in light green and clear.
