The Aeronca Champion was a typical trainer manufactured after WW II in anticipation of teaching masses civilian pilots. The aircraft won great attention and high praise. It was a forgiving machine with a top speed of 100 mph and it would cruise at 83 to 90 mph. The fuel capacity was 14 gallons which was good for 270 miles at cruise. Most Champions had enough instruments and equipment for almost any single engine training program.
