This tram is originally part of the 701/735 series of the Carris de Ferro de Lisboa Company that built them between 1936 and 1940. These trams were considered the safest in Lisbon as they were equipped with a reinforced brake system. They served on the most difficult lines with ramps of up to 12%. The Lisboa was equipped with five types of brakes: pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, electromagnetic by means of skates and mechanical to the skates. She has two powerful Metropolitan Vickers electric motors of 45 hp each and a Brill 21-E truck built by Maley & Tauton. The body is of the standard Lisbon type, derived from Brill's American designs, with its most notable feature being the distinctive domed roof. Lisboa remained in original condition until the updates between 1985 and 1987, during which time she was adapted to a single operator (driver/collector), pneumatic doors and the doors on one side were closed. From 1995 they began to be removed to be replaced by the remodeled trams in the 500 series, but several units remained operation for charter services and as backups.
