WK Models 1/72 Heinkel He-170A Radial Engine, 7202 plastic model kit

1/72 7202 WK Models Heinkel He-170A Radial Engine

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

Unusual radial engine variant. The He-170 was built in 1937 as an export version of the He-70F for long-range reconnaissance. It had a license-built Gnome-Rhone 14K Mistral Major engine in a traditional NACA cowling which gave it a very different appearance from the He-70. The prototype He 170 made its maiden flight in 1937. It was followed by eighteen production aircraft, which were delivered to Hungary in 1937-38, and entered service with I Independent Long-Range Reconnaissance Group in Carpatho-Ruthenia in March 1939. In the summer of 1941 Hungary agreed to assist Germany in the invasion of the USSR. The He170 was blooded at this point but various vulnerabilities caused it to be quickly withdrawn from service. The kit has markings for D-OHEW. The kit has never been started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions present. NOTE: the instructions are from the "F" version but the tree of conversion parts is separate and simply use those instead of the other parts as well as cutting the nose off and using the supplied NACA cowling.
